In my opinion, your in the right. Sex shouldn't be the foundation of a relationship but an expression of it. The fact that you respected her and took your time shows that you care for her and not just after sex. If she dumped for the reason that you weren't having sex well then she isn't worth it because there is so much more to relationships than that! All I can say is good on you, and don't let it put you down! it's a good quality to have..respecting other people! As for how long you should wait...there is no set time...only when both of you are comfortable with it and when it feels right!

It's usually somewhere between the time it takes you to think of doing it and actually doing it, which can range anywhere from 0.5 femtoseconds to 120+ years but don't quote me on that as I capitulated somewhere midway myself.

You are correct, when you have respect for yourself and the other person has likewise, then you will both know when you are ready to take that next step.

And before the wolves start howling at a perceived insult to either side I'd say that if you respect yourself enough to understand that the other person might not be ready for sex even though they respect themselves then you will both learn a little something about the nature of that particular word.

there's no set time that u have 2 wait, it's best when it just happens and the time "feels" right. i applaude u 4 ur respect of her but if she really did leave u because u wouldn't put out then she doesn't deserve ur respect. the truth is that some ppl r just like that and it's mainly the blokes who do a runner if the girl wont put out. the fact that u respected her enough 2 wait says volumes about u and any girl would be lucky 2 have such a caring and thoughtful bloke.

I think it's special that you had enough respect for her to not have sex with her right away. If she just dumps you because you didn't "shag" her right away then forget her, she's not worth it. I waited atleast 6 months before doing it with my boyfriend.. So if she can't even wait 5 weeks then wow..

I respect you for your stand. Dont worry about it. Your mates may not be right. If they are right then the female is not for you.
Remember you must ask questions. You cannot expect anyone to guess whats on your mind or what's in their mind. without information the length of time will never be known. You decide between you.

First of all, if she dumped you just because you wouldn't do it with her, then she's not worth it anyway. She sounds pretty shallow. Second, I think you were right to wait. But in the future, instead of just being passive, ask the girl if she's ready.

Showing respect for someone means not making them feel pressured or uncomfortable. If your girlfriend is giving you all the signals that she wants you to make love to her and you ignore those signals then that is just as disrespectful as pressuring someone.

Let's get away from the idea that waiting equals respect.

Being sensitive to people's needs and feelings is what equals respect.

You were right for not having sex with her. You are more wise than most people so do not worry about what your friends say. I would advise that you wait for sex until you are married. If you do, that it will save you from unnecessary heartache and STDs. Preserve yourself! Don't let the world dictate how you should live!

If it took you under a minute the 1st time, possibly a 2 minute wait is adequate. besides the undeniable fact that, if like me, you spend one or 2 hours at it, it extremely is relatively useful to catch your breath previously going decrease back. That my friend is a question that men have been asking for years. When do you make your move? I happen to agree with you but obviously we are both wrong. I guess it just depends on the lady you are dating.
