Okay, I'm a little biased...I have always had cats, but I do love dogs as well. Let me tell you why I think cats are better than dogs: first of all, if you work outside your home, cats are better because they are fairly independent. You don't have to come home three times a day to let them out and they can pretty much take care of themselves if you leave them food and water for a day or so. The litter box is no fun, but then again, neither is picking up dog poop out of the yard :) A littler box is easier to clean because you can either scoop and toss or line it with a garbage bag and you can just reverse the bag and tie it up, throwing the litter away inside--easy stuff! Cats are a little aloof, but so much more down to earth than most dogs. Dogs are great, they show their love and get excited a majority of the time, but if you are a lower-key person, a cat is probably better for you. Cats have different personalities and need attention just like dogs, but they don't demand it. They are cleaner for the most part and much quieter. (again, for the most part...there are always exceptions, Siamese cats for example, "talk" a lot) Bottom line: I'd say judge which animal is best for you based on what your lifestyle is like...if you're an outdoorsy, athletic person, a dog is better because you can take it with you, if you're more of a home-body, a cat is probably better. Good luck! :)

Cats are totally different than dogs. And more people like dogs because they are more like humans, so we understand them more.

I have three wonderful cats. When they were kittens, I read a lot about cats.

The biggest thing I took away is that they are not "domestic" in the way dogs are. The are essentially unchanged from their wild ancestors.

At this point, we have a small apartment, so dogs aren't a good idea. When we have a house, we will be a cat and dog household.

There is no better - it's all in what you prefer. I have a dog and a cat and love them both. My preference is my dog because he wants to spend time with me, I can take him places, and he's more involved in what's going on. My cat is great but he likes to run off, hide in different places and only sits on my lap for a few minutes here and there.

For taking care of themselves, the cat wins. Dogs need to be let outside, fed and watered continually and given a lot of attention or they get depressed. Cats use the litterbox, and find their own food. So, it's all in what you're looking for.

Yes cause, cats are easier to train than dogs (to use the litter box if they are inside cats) With dogs you have to take them outside if they are inside dogs. You have to buy training pads if they are inside. Dogs require more attention than cats.If they are outside then you don't have to worry about house breaking them. If cats are inside/outside then it cost less if you are getting it neutered/fixed then a dog really, but then it is almost the same price.

CATS RULE!!!
I love cats....They rule, hands down!!!
Hell, even the Egyptians worshiped them!! You don't see dogs being in tombed with their masters, nor do you see any art work done on them....

And cats CAN be trained!! My two cats know not to get on the bed, until the bed is made, that way I am not sleeping with shedded fur!

Depends on YOU, do you like independent animals or frisky animals? I personally would like a cat more, I can't deal with walking a dog everyday and the loud barking...however, cats scare the hell out of me sometimes!

Dogs are better to have especially if one lives alone. A dog will let you know when something isn't right. A cat will beat you running away from trouble.

i wrote a loong essay on that!

well, dogs are more playful than most cats but cats can stay hom all alone for much more without caring of separation anxiety, dogs listed and greet you by the door way, cats are timid and don't keep you up all night, dogs and cats are cute, both can be aggresive, its just like the tootsie pop question. how many licks does it take to get to the center of a tootsie pop? the world may never know...
