let me see 35,000 feet, high enough where there is no breathable air outside, going at almost the speed of sound, and made out of soda can material.

I never felt safe to start with.

Blair haven't even shortened is hollydays...

I really think they are just forging the "right major crisis" they need to make us swallow anything they want.

And this is what Bush’s minions had to say in 2000;-
"Further, the process of transformation, even if it brings revolutionary change, is likely to be a long one, absent some catastrophic and catalyzing event – like a new Pearl Harbor"

Project for the New American Century (2000)

“Naturally the common people don't want war; neither in Russia, nor in England, nor in America, nor in Germany. That is understood. But after all, it is the leaders of the country who determine policy, and it is always a simple matter to drag the people along, whether it is a democracy, or a fascist dictatorship, or a parliament, or a communist dictatorship. Voice or no voice, the people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. That is easy. All you have to do is to tell them they are being attacked, and denounce the pacifists for lack of patriotism and exposing the country to danger. It works the same in any country.”
Hermann Göring(Nazi) 1946 Nuremberg Trials

"We are on the verge of a global transformation. All we need is the right major crisis and the nations will accept the New World Order."
David Rockefeller: Statement to the United Nations Business Council in September 1994

"For more than a century, ideological extremists at either end of the political spectrum have seized upon well-publicized incidents to attack the Rockefeller family for the inordinate influence they claim we wield over American political and economic institutions. Some even believe we are part of a secret cabal working against the best interests of the United States, characterizing my family and me as 'internationalists' and of conspiring with other around the world to build a more integrated global political and economic structure - one world, if you will. If that is the charge, I stand guilty, and I am proud of it." David Rockefellers memoirs (2002)

Given that there has always been the possibility of some kind of electrical or other failure on the plane, that would send it plummeting to the earth in fiery ball of flames, it's never "felt" safe taking an airplane.

On the other hand, I love traveling by airplane. It's just that, as long as I've been traveling by plane, I've calculated the possible risk, made peace with myself about it, and gone ahead and gotten on board.

So, no, I can't say that I "feel" any less safe today than I did 20 years ago. (Yeesh! I'm old enough to say that now!)

I've never exactly felt safe... but that's just because I'm not too comforable entrusting my life to a huge amount of flying metal. Not as a result of any terrorist attack possibilities or anything. There are just so many flights that there is such a small chance of anytrhing happening on the particulat one you're on...

Sure. I flew on Sunday, Monday, and will be on a plane again on Friday. No problems, no worries. Even if there is another terroroist attack the probability that it will be on a flight I am on is exceedingly remote. It's still more dangerous to drive to the airport than it is to fly.

No. Between the easy ways for blowing up a plane, the long lines and security checks, the drunk pilots and mechanics, the rude/old/fat flight attendants, it just isn't a great way for travel. I used to travel all over the world when all you had to do was buy a ticket, show up at departure time, and go. With all the hassles, it is almost better to just charter your own plane with friends, if you can.
