It is called hypocrisy. It's distressingly common.

Back door Baptists are what we call them here where I live. I am sorry you have to be exposed to that kind of stuff. It makes God look bad, doesn't it?
This is the kind of stuff a christian should realize to an unsaved person acting like a saved person for personal gain. they are the ones Jesus called Wolves in sheeps clothing or Pharaisees, hypocites,
Hypocrite in the ancient language means actor. some on who is lying or acting a part to gain favor from others.
They are all over the world and have always been here. You just need to know something about people okay?
They are human beings. Christians are just human being who have a good thing going for them. They are human beings who have gained forgiveness from God. They are no different that unsaved people apart from that. Don't put people on a pedestal. they will fall off. it is inevitable. they are human.
Don't hold God in fault because of someones sin. okay? don't hate those people either. hate their sin. hate the reason behind all sin. evil. and continue to watch and learn and know who you can say is trustworthy to keep faith as best they can, but don't talk about the other people behind their backs, if you have a problem with them, tell it to them to their face in front of witnesses. This is the remedy God gave to Paul to give to the early churches as a way to handle this kind of thing. If they can't seem to straighten up and fly right then they are to be removed from the fellowship as a bad influence and people who will not come to terms and follow the rules of God.

~~There are a lot of so called Christians out there, but the Bible says you will know them by their fruits... another words, if they really are a Christian they will walk the walk and talk the talk, no matter who they are with. unfortunately people like that give Christians a bad name. try not to judge all Christians by this persons actions, and remember it this way... if you sleep in a garrage, does that make you a car? if the cat had kittens in the oven would it make them biskets? just because a person goes to church don't make them a christian any more than if the cat had kittens in the oven they would be biskets or if you sleep in a garrage would it mak you a car. People that go around calling themselves an Ordained minister in the end, are going to be called to a higher standard... on judgement day they are going to have to answer to the almighty why they misrepresented themselves, and also will have to answer for the souls that were lost because of their behavior. i wouldn't want to be in their shoes on judgement day. the only thing you can do is pray for that person and remind them that they will have to answer to God in the end.~~
*note to jeffrey there is no such verse in Is. chapter 20

I have known some Christians that have done this, and it is very sad that a few can put a sour taste in one's mouth for the whole group. There are many people who *claim* to be Christians that do not act that way. The Bible tells us the way to live right. If we choose not to listen to the word of God, we are being fooled, and are not truly living for Him.
I do my best to live my life in a way that is honoring to God and what His word has taught me. Do I mess up sometimes? Of course, I'm only human and have never claimed perfection. Have I slept around, done drugs, made fun of people, cussed? Not since I've given my life to Jesus.
My prayer is that the true Christians will set the right example and know better than to think they can go and live life the way they want expecting to repent later. We aren't promised tomorrow, so it may be too late to repent then. And if you're living your life dishonoring to God, then you've not repented, or you'd turn your life around.

Yep, I do, and at times, I have been this person. The process of sanctification is a long one, filled with setbacks, falls, and trials. Sometimes it seems easier just to give in to the baser desires rather than living a life set apart. In time it catches up with you one way or another, even if just in your heart, and you need to turn back to the truth.
Of course, I'm guessing you're baiting and not looking for sincere answers... then again I might just be jaded by the myriad thoughtless, disrespectful "atheists" we find here...

That 's because none of us are perfect, and you'll find that there's all kinds of Christians out there, just as well as non believers, and we all that bleed red blood are all sinners.... yes even Christian. a christian can change daily, depends on the closeness of God.... the more you pray, and stay in tune with the Lord... you start acting more like Jesus, if you slip away from being in tune, you fall back to ur old ways.

There are things others (Christians or not Christians) do that we may not agree with. We are responsible (control) how we act. We influence how others act. Perhaps the Lord instructed them do do such. Permit me to use an extreme example here for now; Isaiah 20:7, the Lord instructed Isaiah to go naked for a while.

Most of the christians I've been around are exactly that way. That's why I don't hang out with them anymore. I don't like false people no matter what your religion is.

I think there are a lot of so-called Christians in this category and it's a lot less obvious than drinking and cussing.
