And the humanist non-believer who devoted his/her life to feeding the poor goes to Hell, doesn't that indicate the Christian God is anything but good and just? Wouldn't that make "God" one hellaciously evil entity?

UPDATE: Check out "Sandy's" answer below. It perfectly illustrates my point. By her own tacit admission, "God" is simply a sociopath, uninterested in the good of man.

Thanks for your help Sandy :)

Why all the cut and paste thumpers like "a aquairus muse"? The man answered with nothing right after I asked the question, only to come back 20 minutes later and fill most of the 1st page with bible quotes.

The only thing this tells me is "a aquaris muse" has an incredibly tough time thinking for himself.

This isn't a true teaching. This was fabricated by Church leaders so that evil-doers within the Church as well as Kings, etc. could continue their crimes and sins without being punished by the law, church or public at large. Its a shame that the very church of Christ had to pervert His teachings for their own ambitions and greed.

I ask you to consider the pedophile priest scandal.

If someone - a child killer for example --asks for forgiveness, they have to be genuinely repentent and that means a child killer would feel the full weight of what they had done and feel like the pond scum they are. It isn't just a matter of asking forgiveness, one has to be truly repentent in that asking. So I sincerely doubt a child killer is going to have that kind of conversion - a truly repentent heart.

Since we are attempting to put some labels on God and speak for him - how do you think he feels, loving his children, sacrificing his Son so we could all get to heaven then having the humanist/atheist deny the sacrifice?

If you've ever had a child, you know the intense, all-consuming love a parent feels for a child, yet the unbeliever spits on that huge sacrifice and basically says "so what, you gave up your son, who needs him?"

so if you want to look at it from all sides - you have to consider the above.

Hey Holy Cow,

The rules of the game state that you must accept Christ as your savior in order the receive redemption. Anyone can receive redemption if they actually believe in Christ. And they can receive redemption from anything except denial of Christ's salvation.
So, if you want to go to the Christian Heaven of the God of the Holy Bible then you must follow his rules.

If you don't you will end up in the Lake of Fire, where Hell and Death will be thrown. (Hell is simply the grave-not a place of punishment).

Because God is good he accepts everyone that will come to him. If he was "one hellaciously evil entity" none of us would get to heaven, in fact I think he would tell us about it and not tell us how to get there. Sin is sin no one is greater than another it all hurts some one in the end.

Any sin can be forgiven by God. Doing a whole bunch of good things does not get you into heaven. It is repentance of your sin and turning to follow God. No matter what sin you commited before. God is just and holy. None of us are. That causes a problem. He solved that problem by sending Jesus to pay for theprice of any and all sin for anyone who will believe in Him and accept this forgiveness. That is called Grace. If you chose to accept his grace and forgiveness then heaven is your destiny. If you do not, then hell is your destiny. Think of it as a free gift to allof us who are not worthy. We should be gratefully that any sin we do can be covered by the blood of Jesus on the cross instead of being mad at God for allowing His gift to apply to all , even the ones who were "extra bad" but chose to turn from their ways. Hope that answer helped.

No, it doesn't indicate that at all.

A requirement of salvation is believing in Christ--believing that he is the only begotten son of God who came to earth to save the world.

When a child killer asks forgiveness from Christ, he or she can't fudge this. There is no way to fake God out. True repentance is true repentance.... It requires humility and faith. You act like these things are easy to come by. They aren't. You act like God has this stupid "yes" or "no" checklist of those who have asked Christ and those who haven't. He doesn't.

The asking for forgiveness must be pure in intention and must be faithful.

A humanist nonbeliever has neither humility before God nor faith in God. Therefore, why would he or she even WANT to spend eternity with God? If God wasn't important enough in his or her earthly life, surely living with God in eternity isn't anywhere on his or her list of priorities.

As the nonbeliever did not know Christ, Christ does not know the nonbeliever. It's simple.

It is written this way. One must KNOW Christ in order to be saved. There are ways of getting to know Christ.

They are not trivial; they cannot be faked; they are open to anyone.

But if one has not the humility required to seek God, then that is one's choice and one's own fault. God would not be punishing. That person made a CHOICE.

Ok dude.

Say I have cancer. And all along there was this cure for cancer, it was eating fig berries. But I didn't want to eat the fig berries, because I didn't believe of them. Well I'll probably die.

Or if I decide that I don't want to get my car registered because I don't like registering my car, and I get pulled over, I'm going to jail. Oh well. I knew, so it was my fault.

Same scenario. We are put on this earth to seek knowledge and educate ourselves. If we don't do so, unfortunately that's our own fault.

If someone hasn't heard of Christianity, which is almost impossible except in 3rd world countries, then they won't be punished for it. That is unfair.

the word is Repent - turn away from your sin and go toward God. Change direction.
Make a 180.
God is full of Grace and Mercy. He is Love. He is a gentleman, He will not go where He has not been invited. You have to invite Him into your life to go to the Heaven He created. Join His Team and you can play on His Field.

Well, I can't answer for all Christians, but I can tell you what I believe.

If someone asks for forgiveness in order to be forgiven they must truly be sorry for what they have done and truly believe that it was wrong and that they will change their lives.

If someone is a non-believer I do believe they can go to heaven if they are good people who does their best just like any Christian is required to do to get to heaven.

We all sin and do things that are horrible. I just live the best I can and do the best I can not to judge anyone else. That's not my job.
