I have been working out at 24 hour fitness for a while... But I always see posters that say "For faster results, get a personal trainer," blah blah. So what i want to know is, has anyone had a personal trainer and if they are really worth the money that they charge, or are they just telling you the same information that you already know...

I think that answer depends on what type of workout foundation and self-motivation you have. If you're clueless on what excercises to do to meet your goals and proper workout methods then sure, a personal trainer will be worth the money. Alternatively you could find a workout partner that has similar goals in mind and perhaps a little more experience or, read some books on the topic. Good luck.

A personal trainer does a couple of things for you.

First they teach you the proper way in which to use the equipment that is best for you to get the results you need.

2. they give you a goal and you are there to reach it, if not they help you to continue through the exercise till you do.

3. They put the bar higher and higher, something you may not do because you are ....well just not wanting to so they are their to push you to a higher level.

4. because you pay them so much to do this with you, you do it. you don't stop and walla....................results in half the time.

I used a person trainer for 3 months...paid a fortune for her, she was good, I was good, when doing it. Was it worth it..kind of. I would say personnel trainers are about worth half the hourly pay the require. so if they want 60 bucks and sessions I say that trainer is worth....30. I bought mine in 12 sessions blocks and I never missed a sessions as they charge you if you do.

Its your choice...try on for say three times....then see if you cant follow the routine they give you on your own.

I have had a personal trainer, they are good because they usually push you farther than you would normally go on your own and they show you things that you might not have known about. The thing about it is they are expensive and you have to keep up on your side of the bargain, eating healthy when at home etc. And it also depends on how much weight you want to lose. You could always get one for a week and see what you learn and if you like it.

Well lets see i've had a few personal trainers called DRILL SGT'S ,but its like any other situation someone cant help you unless you wanna help yourself make sense? he can show you every exercise in the world but he can't do the excersise for you.Beside push-up,sit-up,crunches and running about 2-3 times each a week for about 10 mins and you will rapidly improve.

so no a personal trainer is a con-artist with a job title

If you asked anyone if they think that a personal trainer will help them, they will all say yes. People don't go through with it because they don't believe that THEY will follow through with it. People don't believe in themselves. Trainers are professional people who are learing more and more everyday about fitness. To think that you can work out and get the same results on your own is rediculous!

I have a friend who started working with a trainer in May. She went from a tight 12 to a tight 6 in very little time. She also works out a lot on her own and she follows his meal plan. I tried to get on the bandwagon, but they are both very hardcore.

Unless you can't count to ten you don't need a trainer. That's all they do is stand there and count your reps, drink coffee and take phone calls on your time. If you are reasonably intelligent you can get everything a personal trainer knows from books and the internet.

I suppose that depends. If ur the type that can work out hard all by urself, then u will waste ur moolah. But if u need others 2 tell u wat 2 do then u can spend ur dough an probably get the same results as u would if u work out harder an by urself. But if this doesnt help, thanx 4 the 2 points...BOO-YA!!

I would say no.
I have had free sessions before when i joined a gym and if you are basically informed about your body and exercising then they dont really help you.

They are more good for spotting and support than anything.
