My favorite is John.
I know only what I have read.
I know that he was one of Jesus favorites.
I know he was the brother of James, the son of Zebedee.
I know that only one of the people mentioned in your question was an apostle.
I know that John had more insight into who Jesus was then any of the others, even Peter.
I know that the book of John was written like no other book of the New Testament.
He brought out, THE I AM, about Jesus.
He knew that Jesus was God.
He is the only one that said, The Word was made flesh.
He knew who Jesus was. The Word of God.

John, "the disciple whom Jesus loved." He was prominent in the early church but is not mentioned in this Gospel-which would be natural if he wrote it, but hard to explain otherwise.

I know enough to know that not all of the Gospels were written by apostles.

Don't believe me? Look up the names of the twelve yourself.

John. So? In other gospels that didn't make it into the Bible, you can also read Thomas, Judas, and Mary.
