I truly believe that these crimes against children pierce our Saviors heart. Who among us can argue different? Do you not feel that a society is judged by how it treats its weakest members and are children not our weakest? We have some serious accounting to do one day. Even if you are not a believer I hope you can agree that THIS ought to carry one of the harshest legal punishments.
Peace Be With You,
Debra

Yes, there is no greater crime than harming a child in any way....
I agree with you totally.
There should be harsh penalties however I do not agree with the death penalty, imprisonment for life is best.

Yes Debra
It's hard to know what can be worse...if there was remorse and some effort to change you could forgive but it seems these men are habitually predisposed to evil.
I'm also strongly opposed to pornography and just wish they'd get it off the web.
You know the legal age of consent is sixteen; that means that for four of the seven teenage years, teenagers have the same legal protection under law as a child. People need to accept this.
I see they're electronically tagging terrorist suspects but why not pedophiles? And chemical castration ought to be a very real legal option in my view.
They're making viagra here in Ireland so that eighty year old men can have sex: why? Wouldn't you think you consider sexual dysfunction a grace at that age?

I nearly agree- Jesus said once that it would be better to be drowned than to offend a "little one"... I think any harm brought to a child qualifies as offense- sexual abuse, verbal battery, neglect, etc.

As a non-parent (just not yet!), I hope and pray that I will never bring harm to my children.

My husband and his brother were in State custody once upon a time, and although my husband was not molested while in the foster system (as far as he remembers), his brother was. It affects him even today- He is in an unhappy marriage because (I suspect) he feels he does not deserve the happiness or respect that a healthy marriage would provide.

My mom was sexually abused by her father (now dead). Thankfully she's in a very happy marriage- to my dad. They've been together for over 30 years. But she still struggles with self-image issues. She feels that she does not deserve God's love or the approval of others. She hates Mother's Day- she says b/c she feels that she's a failure as a mom... 5 kids, all "good people"...? Go figure!

My personal opinion regarding what should be done to sexual offenders- child sex crimes, rape, whatever- comes from a rule my mom had way back in the day when she had an in-home day care- "If you can't play with it nicely, then nobody gets to play with it."... Cut the offending body-part off, and destroy it- no surgical re-attaching options! If the harm was done with the hands, cut them off... If the harm was done with genitalia, cut that off....

After-thought...
Yes, I will teach them that rules are for obeying. Even us grown-ups have rules we must follow, and when we don't we get time out (jail or prison), or we get privelages taken away (suspended license), etc. This may anger the child at the time, but as an adult, I know I am grateful that my parents taught me to abide by "rules," no matter the source.

Yes.. Crimes against children are of the worst that you can commit.. ( I would put gang rape up there)
To take away the innocence of a child is sick and they should be punished the worst way possible!
They are babies.. When a child is sexually assulted, generally the scars are there for life, not just emotional but physical. A grown man having sex with a child does quite abit of damage. Sometimes resulting in the child not been able to have children.. To take away something like that is sick and I cant even begin to think about what I would like to do to the sick people that do it!

1. Those are crimes of the cruelest nature.

2. I believe that they fall into the 'torture' category.

3. Abusers, regardless of their childhood baggage, should be given life sentences, without possibility of parole. In addition, no awarded privileges either. I am serious.

4. They have committed a form of murder & most heinous form of stealing — a child's innocence, physical and emotional well-being. They have disturbed the natural developmental stages of childhood with their crimes.

5. I also believe that it has nothing to do with god. These are just sick people, who are good at acting normal when they need to. No amount of rehab will change who they are, (i.e. finding religion in prison is bogus) and a disguise to hide behind to make others think they have changed.

I do agree with you Debra. Children do not have the tools to be handle life and society which is why they rely on their parents and other adults in their families. For anyone to betray that kind of trust with any type of abuse is heinous and anyone who commits such an act male or female should be prosecuted to the full extent of the law.

I don't know about sin, but I think those crimes outta be punishable by execution. Preferrably by drawing and quartering in the town square and then thrown into a dumpster full of razors covered in salt.

I live in Texas where there is the death penalty for crimes like this. We are the leading state in executions. Not quit sure whether to be proud of this or not.
But when I see people being executed for crimes against children and our old people then I really cant complain.

And as far as the bible, it says that blasphemy is the only unforgivable sin.

I agree with u 100%

If there is one thing I see as unforgivable its abuse and bloodshed of any kind especially if it involves a child which most of the time it does

under the new covenant, the Lord Jesus not only took the individual sins of people upon himself, but sin itself was judged by God and placed upon Jesus.

rejection of the grace and mercy of God through the sacrifice of Jesus is the sin by which God will judge the unbeliever, but the Lord did say that it would be better for them if a person had a millstone hung around their neck and be cast into the deepest sea if they did harm to a child.
