I'm pretty sure you're thinking of Georgia O'Keeffe. There were a lot of small towns, some ghost towns, near where she lived in New Mexico.It could be anywhere from White Rock to Eagle's Nest to Campana to Taos to Springer. I'm not sure withing seeing the painting.
