I live in Burbank and I had it about 2 weeks ago. It was really going around in this area. Also in Glendale, Pasadena and pretty much all of LA county.

Stomach flu is caused by Norovirus. Noro is extremely contagious and is spread by food contamination or exposure to aerosolized particles of vomit or feces. Basically, if someone with Noro barfs or dumps in your toilet, the stuff does float in the air a while. And then if you go into the bathroom next, you can ingest those particles and catch the virus. Noro spreads like wildfire through day care centers, hospitals, nursing homes and parties (I have personally investigated many weddings and office parties that were ruined by Noro).

Currently, I have not heard of anything going around SB County. I do not work for them, but I work closely with them. In my region, there have been no report new outbreaks of Noro. Usually, it's something you see a lot of in winter. We had a pretty Noro-riffic winter, actually.

Anyway, prevention can be difficult because it is a highly contagious infection. But you can do your part by sanitizing bathrooms with bleach and ALWAYS wash your hands with soap under hot water for 20 seconds.
