Don't drink caffeine after dinner. Try to do something relaxing in the 30 minutes before bed. And don't think about sleep while you're trying to sleep...just think about pleasant things, like a beach, summer, nice weather, etc. Or count sheep ;-)

Well, I read once that if you lay in bed for longer than 30 minutes without falling asleep, you should get up and go do something else for 30 minutes, like read or something. You should also avoid the computer and the television an hour before going to bed because it can stimulate you and make you wired. When I really have trouble falling asleep, I take an antihistamine. If you take just one, it makes you sleepy, but you won't feel groggy in the morning. Good luck and sweet dreams!

Ooh, I had that trouble last night because a rainstorm was moving in. You might want to do some stretches before sleeping. Praying helps me relax, because I give my problems over to God. Sometimes it is too warm in the room, so I leave a quiet electric fan running. Sometimes you may have some nutritional changes to make. Eliminate caffeine.

melatonin is a great herb you can get over the counter and it makes you sleepy. if melatonin doesnt work, benadryl will do the trick because it makes you sleepy too. just be careful with benadryl because you dont want to become dependent on it for sleep.
for some people, some noice hot decaf tea works well - stay away from anything caffeinated right before bedtime, and also dont eat right before bedtime because for some people, that keeps them awake at night too.
