Sho Ban is exactly right- just another political diversion, in an ever increasing line of political smokescreens, to make it look like our leaders are "being strong on the issue" and/or "responding to the will of the people" while actually doing nothing at all. The immigration bills of the past did nothing but seemingly encourage more illegal immigration and what good is any law if it only is a law on paper and not actually enforced? You know our leaders from both parties are purposely doing nothing on this issue- heck if we can put armies in Afghanistan and Iraq, we could certainly make a much more serious effort to enforce immigration laws, prohibit illegal access to our country, etc. Leaders from both parties are trying to do nothing on the illegal immigration issue in order not to alienate the emerging and potentially very powerful Hispanic/Latino voting bloc for the future at the expense of the current American public which, oddly enough, is quite united regardless of party on this issue. Furthermore, just like any government, the US is controlled by and has always been controlled by only the very wealthy and politically powerful; our Founding Fathers all came from the wealthiest families in the colonies and began the revolution largely for their financial benefit and, furthermore, which multimillionaire/billionaire candidate did you pick in the last election- the extremely wealthy Republican with wealth from oil or the extremely wealthy Democrat that married into a fortune? Think the next election will provide candidates that will "represent" the average American either when, regardless of which party they come from only the extremely wealthy can afford to run for just about any political office? Anyhow, the wealthy, elite that run our government are the very same people that benefit the most from the abundant supply of illegal workers that they exploit as a source of cheap labor at the expense of the American people that put them in office and who they claim to "represent"- hope you see the irony here.

it looks it somewhat is from the Nazi playbook that the neocons have been following for the previous 8 years. Busting unions and demonizing left-wingers are different chapters contained in the playbook.
