She is probably really nervous. The girl is going to college and to make her even more nervous you propose her with this promise ring. Believe it or not, women just as well as men can be afraid of commitment.
At this time you should give her the space she needs. She is unsure of what she wants so give her time to come around on her own without calling constantly.

It sounds like she has a lot going on. I don't think it means she wants to break up, but she has a lot on her plate, just give her time to breath and tell her when she's ready to talk, to give ya a call.
