what does it mean when a guy says we need a break??

I mean if he wants to break up why not say so. why beat around the bush.

Him saying he needs a break means he wants you guys to break up so he can do what he needs and wants to do without hurting you, but when he is done if and I put emphasis on the if he wants to come back to you then he will because you guys were on a break. It's just like he's saying we are going to break up for now and what ever I do you can't know, I'm not going to tell you, and if you find out you can't do anything about it because technically you were not together. The question is are you ok with that, and after he has had his fun will you want him back if he even decides to come back?

Some guys want a break so that they know they still have that girl on rebound but can check out and talk to other girls as well. So, what they do is, they go on a "break" from a girl, end up meeting other girls & if they're not as good as the girl they went on a "break" with, they try to win her back. This is why some guys dont say "it needs to be over, we need to break-up"

Have you ever seen a girl after she's heard that her boyfriend wants to break up? They hit the cieling, cry and sometimes throw things. If you say something a little more vague and confusing, then at least you have a chance of surviving the encounter. But you're right, people should be open and honest.

maybe youre being too overbearing and wont let him breathe or he just wants to explore his options before he decides to settle with you..i say whatever the reason if he isnt ready for a relationship then find someone who is,,if he wants a break give it to him and find someone who will want ot be with you no matter what so that when he wants to come back from the so called break you can tell him how sorry you are but how you found somebody who can do you better lol...

Cause IF he breaks up with you...he may be sorry after..IF he's taking a break...he can MEET other women and then have someone else to fall back to when he breaks up... A break is just the man's way of being ...well... a MALE!!!

Hm he probably wants to see if he likes someone El's with out totally loosing you.
