Oh this one is easy. Texas...hands down no doubt about it. The people there are sooo nice and you really need to look at the cost of living. Housing is a good place to look. What you can rent in Texas for $500 a month would cost you $1500 in VA. How do I know? I have lived in both states. You'll get a lot more bang for your buck in Texas and the people are so much friendlier and helpful. There is also a ton of stuff to do there as well without the HUGE tourist crowds and costs you get in VA.

Langley VA. Its is so pretty and you are relatively close to everything. The mountains, the ocean, DC, .....Abilene TX is flat and very breezy.

Well I am currently living in TX, born and raised! Not a redneck though. Anyways, I love TX and the hot weather and all the great friendly people. VA gets too cold and I hate cold weather. So I'd chose TX baby!

VA
I lived there for 3 years while working in DC. There are 4 actual change of seasons, history everywhere turn and battle sites to visits (civil war buff)
