I've always figured that driving a Hummer is a desperate attempt to shore up one's sagging ego. It practically screams, "I need you to think that I'm macho!"

Unlike almost any other vehicle a Hummer is meant to make a statement, but I think those who drive them are more or less oblivious to the statement they're actually making. I'd love to see a survey done where people say what they think when they see someone driving a Hummer.

Personally, I think "There goes a person who is outwardly egotistical, but inwardly insecure and who has almost zero social conscience regarding the environment or America's dependence on foreign oil."

My son, in the U.S. Army and in Iraq completing his second tour of duty as we speak, and very familiar with Hummers, says that only an idiot and a fool would buy one. Besides thinking that they are a mechanical nightmare, he agrees with Penny S when she says "Big outside, Small inside". I figure my son's got a lot of "up front" info. on the Hummer, and I wouldn't have one if you gave it to me. God Bless you.

Don't know about that. But judging by the way they drive, it is inversely proportional to the driver's brain size.

Wait, are you referring to Hummer as in the SUV or Hummer as in "A Hummer", which a woman gives a man?

Not only are they overcompensating for a "little less below" with a huge car, also I have learned the same is true with the really expensive sports cars.....
