This may be the same as bleach, I don't know, however Sunsilk Custom Highlights works well.
You spray on your hair after washing and comb it through with your fingertips.
This is a gradual way to lighten your hair and once you get to the colour you like, stop using it.
If you go outside in the sun to dry your hair it will lighten faster.
I don't use it, I am blonde, my hubby does.

Going in the sun for an hour or two a day will lighten your hair. I know personally because I'm a natural blonde, but when I'd lay out in the sun my hair would become lighter and have natural highlights. I've also used different shampoos like Beach Blonde and Pantene Pro-V Blondes. It adds lighter color to your hair - It doesn't dye it. Bleaching it would be completely STUPID - It can totally wreck your hair. There are many different "legit" shampoos that will give you the results you're looking for. But know that it won't happen overnight.

You get buy a wide range of Hair lighteners which do not dye your hair and are a temporary fixture.
They make your hair lighter gradually and you have the choice to stop at the shade you like best. You can also make highlights with this.
I recommend sun-in which is available at almost any good hair & beauty store. I purchased some in the past from Boots but I know it is also available at Superdrug.
You can also get 'tints' for your hair which are available at the mentioned shops and basically add a certain tint of colour to your hair. They are in sachets and usually cost under just one pound but if you want one that is gauranteed to work then i suggest you get one for over that price.
Don't buy cheap when it's comes to dealing with and changing your hair as this can results in:
The product not functioning properly.
The condition of hair becoming like 'straw'
Falling out - Hair loss or thinning of the hair
Or just 'dull' looking in general.
If you truly want blonde hair, I suggest you do go to the hair-dressers you get light streaks of blonde in your hair or possibly a copper shade close to that of your natural hair colour but also slightly blonde in tone and then eventually build up the colour over time so that the colour looks natural and is also healthy.
It's always better to get a professional to manage your hair rather than opt for one of the many D.I.Y offers so readily and cheapily available.
Remember - buy cheap and expect cheap results!
Hope I helped and hope your hair turns out great!

There's not really a way around it...you'll lhave to bleach it or dye it. You can try over the counter hydrogen peroxide or a product called "Summer Blonde" (which is mainly peroxide), but if you want your hair to go blonde, you'll have to use chemicals. If you are a light brown, you might be able to get out in the sun and get some highlights.

You can try lemon juice and a little bit a mousse and mix it apply and stay in sun for a long time....used to do it back in the day.. But if you really want blonde you are going to have do it professionally otherwise you will turn orange... Good luck!!

If you put some lemon juice in your hair it will lighten .I would'nt do an extreme color change because you might want to GO BACK TO YOUR NORMAL HAIR COLOR.. Plus brunettes are better then blonds!!!!JK

You MIGHT get some highlights if you put lemon juice in it and lay in the sun. But otherwise, you need to dye/bleach it to achieve any real "blondeness."

Sit out in the sun for hours and hours...? There is nothing you can do to make brown hair magically turn blonde.. sorry, you can either bleach it or you'll just have to die it.
