No, cat food is too rich for them and does not provide the proper type of nutrition. It is much stronger in smell and taste... so if they start eating that, they may not be willing to eat dog food. Best to stay away from cat food. Put the cat's dish up high, so only the cat can get to it.

It won't hurt him to "snack" on a bite of the cat food on his way past the cat dish, but as a regular diet, he needs to have a good quality dog feed. Dogs and cats have different nutritional needs, and the high quality pet foods are formulated to provide just what the different species need. I am sure that your food sounds even more appetizing than the cat food does, but human food doesn't provide the best quality nutrition for a dog, either. Spend a little more on a better brand than the cheap grocery store brands so you give your dog the best chance for optimum health, and then he will be happy.

I don't think that it is wise to give your dog cat food, cat food has nutrients that will benefit the cat, but maybe reverse for your dog, i don't think your dog would like cat food anyway because its all usually fish and things like that, a good dog food is Cesar select dinners, they are packaged the same way a cat food comes so might be better for you too since you want to feed your dog cat food.

Because cats are more finicky, cat food tends to have a stronger flavor than dog food...so your dog will LIKE it better than dog food, but dog food has certain elements that dogs really need, and cat food has elements that cats really need. Dogs can live on a diet of protien AND plants, while cats are strictly meat eaters, so cat food is too high in protien and fat for dogs. He could do with a bit of cat food as a treat now and then, but dog food is his best bet at meal time.

i'm continually shocked after I see this question, haha! No! Cat food is way more effective in fat content textile than canine food, and has a thoroughly diverse nutritional stability than canine food. you won't be able to have a wholesome canine that eats cat food. My dad and mom have 2 canine and a pair of cats. they save the cats food in the laundry room it really is blocked off from the canine (the cats can bounce in inspite of the undeniable fact that), and the canine are fed two times an afternoon and my dad and mom take both minutes to exhibit screen them devour so the cats do not thieve their food. no longer in uncomplicated words do canine opt to devour canine food, pups desire pup food, and seniors desire senior food. stay faraway from crap food like Iams, Purina, and all of the different advertisement manufacturers that are packed with fillers, crap, and function 0 food. bypass with a grain-loose food ideally, or the different remarkable style. some examples are Orijen, Blue Buffalo, and Acana. they're more effective extreme priced, yet your canine will stay and longer and larger wholesome existence. those organizations also make cat food. good luck!

It's okay to feed your dog cat food occasionally. But the food doesn't give the dog the nutrients he/she needs, so it's not good over a long period of time. Besides, I don't think you'll want to be in the same room with your dog with all of the flatulence!

If cat food was made for dogs to eat, the food would say "for cats and dogs," but it doesn't. Your dog would probably like for you to give him dog food, because he's a dog. What I feed my dog, and think you should DEFF try it, is Beneful Purina. It is very nutritious and my dog cannot WAIT to eat. Here is what the website said about Beneful Purina Dog Food:
You've never seen a dog food like Purina Beneful brand dog food. It's the ideal solution for dog lovers who want excellent nutrition without having to sacrifice taste. Each contains real wholesome ingredients like beef, chicken, salmon or soy, plus crunchy whole grains accented with vitamin-rich vegetables to provide abundant nutrition!
Hope I have helped you!
Have a wonderful day!!

It WILL harm his health. Cat food does not have the nutrients that dogs need and it WILL give them diarrhea! Ask your vet for some suggestions on what kind of dog food to switch your dog to if you feel you must switch...but please make sure to stick with dog food

I don't think in the short term it's too bad. Long term I wouldn't suggest it. I think cat food has some things in it that aren't too good for dog's systems. I seem to recall high ash levels or something but maybe that's in the cheap food. HTH
