About 9 years ago, the US have some kind of an amnesty program for illegal aliens. If you have been here for x number of years, ‘COOL’, just register and become a citizen.
It other words, you fooled me, forget about all legal processing. You win, you are now a citizen. You were smart, you fooled me and got away with it. We welcome you with open arms.
NOW, why do you think everybody is sneaking in????????????
When is the next Amnesty? Like the saying goes, 'fool me onces shame on me, fool me twice shame on you'!

Actually I think we have amnesty programs a bit more frequently than that. I was going to say around 5-7 year intervals. I sometimes wonder why immigrants go through all the trouble of doing it the legal way when all they have to do is wait for the next blanket-amnesty.
And our government is talking about doing another one, because (they say) there's no way they can deport the thousands of illegals already here, which of course is true. But they make it sound like this is the last time, and it can't be. Even if another amnesty is admininistered and everyone becomes legal, there will be thousands more that they can't deport in another 7 years, so that means what? Another amnesty. But it's someting that one politician passes down to others.
Really it's our own damn fault. And now it's irreversible. Might as well learn a second language and take your family out for fajitas over the weekend, because that's the least of the stressful alternatives. I've adjusted. I frankly don't get bothered by it anymore. Just one of those things that you and I have no control of. Did you want hot sauce on that fajita?
