Well you should just get it cut in layers, this way you get an idea of what you'd look like with shorter hair + Layers give you a fresh new look!

Changing yr hair style should not be connected with age but with your mood. Are u tired to see yourself with long hair??? If not leave it as it is and don't pay attention to other people's comments... One way or another it is at least flattering being 30 and looking like you are 18.
I used to have long hair too and I decided after a lot of thought to have them cut in layers and I wasn't 30 yet. It was just that I was so fed up with the same hair style and I wanted a drastic change.
After the change on my hair people still say that I don't look 30 but 25.
Hair stylists are recommending short hair instead of long after the age of 40 or 45 because then long hair makes a woman look older. Good luck though with whatever u decide!!!

LOL! I have the same problem. I am 31, and just last week I got carded for a rated R movie.
I had hip-length hair all my life also, and I figured that was why people always thought I looked way younger than my age. I didn't care until I got a job where I had to be in authority over people . I got absolutely no respect, and coworkers said it was because I looked too young. So, I cut my hair.
I felt fabulous, like a weight was lifted off me! I went to work the next day, and nothing changed. I figure your age is really just an attitude. Your hair most likely has nothing to do with it. But I really am enjoying the change.
OH! and if you do decide to get it cut, PLEASE consider donating your hair to Locks of Love. They make wigs for kids with no hair.

I understand wanting to look more your age, people think I'm 17 and I'm actually 26. I never get anything out of people saying "enjoy it now, you'll appreciate it when you're older!" because I honestly don't care about looking younger and see no point to 50 year olds wanting to look 20. But if you're just tired of having the same old hairstyle, cut it, try something new. Even if you're just really sick of people treating you like a high schooler, a change might be refreshing, but if this is the case, do something that isn't drastic, like keeping most of the length and adding layers or something. If you're really doing it for the sake of others, you won't be happy no matter how it looks.
If you do decide to cut it but feel that long hair is flattering on you, I would suggest getting it cut to just below your shoulders and get it layered.

I used to have hair past my year end. I got mad one day and cut it off almost like a boy. Since then it is hard to grow, stays damaged, and is thinning drasticly. Personally I would never do it again, its now finally to my waiste and I regret ever having cut it I cant imagine how long it would be now if I hadnt. Im 26 with 3 kids and not many people believe me infact I am returning to high school this year and aparently I pass as a student in the school....lol Long hair works when ya wanna look younger...lol

NO, absolutely do not cutyour hair short unless YOU want it short. Don't you think its nice that you are 30 and people think you are 18? I am 35 and people think I am 20, enjoy it while it lasts sweetie! If you do want to try a different look I would suggest trying a new hair color perhaps, but do not cut for someone else who in the end it really doesnt matter to them anyway!!!!

That's totally a matter of personal taste.
I think lots of women, including me, thought that they had to have short hair because they were too old for long hair when they turned 30. I went through the phase where I frosted my hair, so the gray roots wouldn't be so obvious... then lightened it for awhile.
Twenty-five years later, I am now again wearing my hair long and light chestnut brown (the original color of my youth), and covering up my gray roots.
Most of the time, I have it pinned up in a braided bun. But I like how easy it is to take care of this way.
I often say that I used to think I was too old for long hair. Now I feel like I'm too young for short hair. LOL. You're as young as you feel. Do what you want with your hair.

I would start in stages. Get a little trimmed off, see how you like it, then go for more. Every woman should have the right to try something new in her life. I got a short -do at thirty three, had my fun with it and am now back to long hair at my husband's request. But I enjoyed it...you only live once.

I am also turning 30 in two months and have very long hair so I understand your apprehensiveness. I think that you should maybe change your hair maybe a nice healthy trim and a new style but nothing too drastic. You can change your look and do so much more with longer hair than shorter hair. Also, no worries or regret you have a party to enjoy!!

Only if you think you would like a change. Perhaps get a couple of inches chopped off and have layers put in, and add some highlights. It will light up your face, and you might feel better.
Don't do anything because society thinks a certain way. Have fun - hope you enjoy your makeover.
