It is used to treat chest pain and high blood pressure, to prevent heart attack, and for other uses as determined by your doctor. Toprol does this by lowering blood pressure. It is a long acting medicine used to control blood pressure over the course of a day, taken once daily, rather than multiple times a day. And if u are wondering, No, you wont get high off it =P

No, it is an antihypertensive, (specifically a selective beta blocker). It lowers blood pressure. I'm an RN and have given this countless times.
