You need to embarrass the old blue hair. Next time she does it, just say - in a loud and strong voice - I didn't ask you, can you let the trainer answer. If she says she just trying to help, say - again in the loud and strong voice - I didn't ask for your help, I raised my hand and was recognized, now please be courteous and let me have the floor and hear the trainer's response.
After the class, you can talk to the trainer and let him know that you could not hear him over her and you want to ensure you get the correct answers - after all, you want to do your job correctly!

Every-time you have a question, write it down. Then at the end of the training, ask you trainer alone. The other person is just trying to let the trainer know that she can do the job and make it look like she's very knowledgeable. Try my suggestion. It will make the lady worry why your not asking anymore, and even worry more that your spending time alone with the trainer. It will kind of throw her off. You will also look more professional by writing you questions down and going over them with your trainer.

You are probably not alone in feeling frustrated. When this Older Lady (Lady) talks over the trainer and answers for her, I'm sure that the trainer is equally annoyed as you are. Lady is preventing Trainer from doing her job - as well as interfering with you learning to do your job. I think that it would be best to address this now before it causes you more angst and truly interferes with your performance.
I suggest possibly taking Trainer aside, away from (out of sight and earshot of) Lady, and mentioning that you may need further instruction because Lady's interruptions distracted you from Trainer's teaching. I know... you may feel as though Trainer then thinks that you are not bright if you ask for further instruction but it may show Trainer that Lady's behavior is indeed a problem. You could also approach your supervisor (if you have one and if you can approach them) and discuss the issue. It is a difficult situation, being new on the job and trying to address a problem without seeming to be a "complainer" or "unintelligent" or a less than desirable employee. So, saying less to whomever you choose to address the issue with is actually a bigger statement about yourself than going on and on about this Lady. Good luck.

Here' an idea......Next time she butt's in, ask the trainer if she's getting paid to answer his questions. She is doing this to prove to the trainer "she" is adequate for her own age. Good luck.

The next time she does this I'd say listen (insert name here) I'm not asking you.... I'm asking our trainer. If I want your opinion/advice/whatever I'll ask for it. You need to butt out.
