So I guess that when I followed a carlength behind a drunk driver for 15 miles at 50 miles an hour last month during the afternoon rush hour while he hit the curb on multiple occasions and swerved several times into oncoming traffic while I was on my cell phone with the cops giving them a description of the car and the tag number and staying on the phone the whole time on purpose at the request of the cops so they could track us and arrest the driver at the police roadblock they had set up to block off the scene of another fatal crash that took the life of a beloved city councilman when an enraged nutcase tried to pass several cars in a no-passing zone and hit him head on doesn't mean anything to you people? I think you all would have felt just a bit different about talking on the cell phone while driving if I would not have got this guy arrested and instead he killed your son or daughter. Or your mother. Or your dad. Or your wife. I'm not entirely sure most of you understand what you are talking about nor do you understand that the problem is not cell phones, it's impaired, enraged, and distracted driving of all kinds that maims and kills. Cell phones are just the soup of the day.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the #1 cause accidents in CA, including those w/ fatalities, are a result of people not paying attention to the road while using a cell phone; drunk driving now ranks #2.

I assume you are joking. Drunk drivers are by far more dangerous.

However, people on cell phones are very annoying when they get in front of you and dawdle around all over the road. It is very easy to pick them out by the way they drive.

Nobody can concentrate properly while talking on the phone, and I hope all states will eventually make it illegal, whether it is a handset or a headset.

A few years ago pedestrian accidents surpassed drunk driving accidents as the number 1 cause of vehicluar death in Maryland according to the state police. But, I thought I heard that the distracted drivers are the number one cause of accidents nationally. Specifically, changing the radio station was slightly ahead of cell phone conversation in cause of distractions.

There are a lot of men driving with cell phones too. I think there has to be strict penalties for cell phone drivers.

I do not know why it has to be women...I've had near missings with the same amount of men on the phone. But I agree it is dangerous those driving and talking.
