Both of my parents are LEGAL immigrants who worked for years to EARN their citizenship. They have allegiance to no other country but this one. They are both FURIOUS that the citizenship they worked so hard for is being demanded by people who do not have the same work ethic, who feel that their illegal activities should be glorified and rewarded.

I am a legal immigrant to the USA. Immigrated here when I was ten with my parents.

Here is my plan for immigration reform: Six easy steps

First a big fence goes up

Second, Anyone caught here illegally will be instantly deported and all assets confiscated and auctioned to help pay for the fence, guards and all the bills (i.e. medical) that illegals have run up, and you will be barred from enter this country legally for 5 years after 1 offence and permanently after 2 offenses.

Third, any company or person caught employing an illegal will face heavy fines and/or imprisonment

Fourth, any local or state agency/government that refused to take part in enforcing these rules will lose any federal money they are receiving and/or be fined.

Fifth English will be declared the official language and all government related business (including schools) must be done in English.

Sixth we will have a guest (short term) worker program, but anyone staying past their allotted time will face the consequences mentioned above. Also, any child born here of guest workers or illegal immigrants will have the same status as their parents and not be instant American Citizens

And that is the solution.

( I also posted this as my own question so feel free to comment on my plan there)

_ They are taking away long time good paying jobs (with
benefits) away from the US citizens and legal immigrants.
_ They are here to bargain whith nothing.
_ They are bankrupting everyone (US citizens and legal
residents)
_ There is no way to track them for hospital bills and schools
(including school buses) are overcrowded which has an
impact on city budget (deficit).
_ They are hurting the legal immigrating applicants (visa quota)
by demanding legalization.
_ They are establishing some sort of practice in which the
meaning of the words "illegal" should be understood, accepted
as acceptable. They are redefining everything that hard
working people in this country have accomplished.
_ They have no respect for the laws and they prove that fact.
_ Some of them expect others to speak their language.
_ They are showing the way for anyone, abroad ,seeking to enter
the United states and by the way redefining the word "illegal" as
the same for legal.

_ Overall, illegals are human being seeking a better life but they
are making life difficult for other people as well, especially
people that has been in vocational schools for years.

why would a legal immigrating applicant spend ten years
overseas for an immigrating visa ?

well, I came here in 92 as a legal resident, my dad was a resident and requested I'd be given residence as well... I finally became a citizen in 2000, so I meet your requirements I guess. How do I feel about it? Look they are here already and I will not refuse food, shelter, medicine, or education to someone based on legal status. Morals do not alow me to do that. first of all turning away from people who are sick, hungry is wrong because we are all people and two it would raise crime rate... people have to eat, and be taken care of. However I do see the point that the borders are a joke, anyone can come in if they really want to, so if you really want to slow it down, here is what you do. You raise the minimum salary to 8 bucks an hour and anyone who gets hired can make that money, but anyone who is illegally here is not protected by affirmative action. Do you really think that Americans will hire illegal aliens, before they hire americans if the cost is the same???

I don't like the jumping of the border or that they have to pay 2 or 3 thousand dollars to get here, It took me 4 years of waiting, I know they ignore the laws, but also and listen this is my personal opinion the INS need to relay give them hard time to who ever hire Illegals, as longer they have work in here we will have this problem, the way I see it is this if in the USA nobody uses drugs
the drug dealers will be doing something else ( no warranties of doing good) but there will be no need to bring drugs, well is the same if illegals can not find a job then they stay home.

First, German R and El oso candeloso; she said LEGAL immigrants.

Second, T L Jaguar; you are right, this is the answer, now if only we could convince our government how easy this would be.

Third, Acceptance; people are tired of being politically correct, these illegals show no respect whatsoever for our citizens, our country, our flag or our laws, why should we not show them the same disrespect?

And Pancha, what in the hell does that have to do with anything in this question?

If you want a serious answer, then you have to ask a fair question. Why bother to answer someone who only wants an answer to support their one-sided beliefs? Your choice of words makes it obvious that you don't really care about their thoughts, but instead want to be able to tell people "All immigrants hate illegal immigrants as much as I do."

An honest fair question would have been worded more like this:

"A question for legal immigrants. How do you feel about illegal immigrants? Do you feel that they have earned the same rights as American citizens? Do you feel like they are asking for things they are not entitled to? I'm honestly looking for different views on this."

Your series of soapboxing seems to be more to hear yourself talk (or watch yourself write) than an honest quest for knowledge.

Good luck and I hope that when answers are given, you are open minded enough to read and consider ALL of them. : )

I can speak for my dad who is a LEGAL Mexican immigrant and he is pretty pissed off by these illegals who just waltz in here and expect everything to be handed to them on a silver platter, especially since he had to wait years to get here legally and become a citizen.

First of all you need to know what it takes to get into the US legally. For one your family has to have a lot of money, a business, or any other kind of great economical status. However, if the illigal immigrantes are coming over to the US because there is no money, no employment, in their country how in the hell do you expect them to be able to come to this country legally. Do you really think that if it was that easy to just ask and be given the right to come to the US everyone would do it because in reallity the illegal immigrants are in this country, because all they want is to survive and in this world there is only one rule "Survival of the Fittest". Thanks! Enjoy!
