As ugly as profiling is, it can be a very useful tool in preventing terrorist attacks. All passengers still need go through security, but a bit of extra attention must be paid to people of middle eastern background.

I'm very sorry, but Muslims should not be angry at the world for the sins of Muslim terrorists. It is a fact that in most of recent history terrorist attacks, the perpetrators were middle eastern Muslims. Muslims should be angry at the terrorists instead, they are the ones that make people regard them with a certain degree of mistrust.

Yes there was the OK City bombing, but there the target was government, not innocent civilians on an aircraft. Still, there will always be a need to screen all passengers regardless of race, just pay a bit more attention were the threat is most likely to come from.

As for drunk driving, it is a whole other subject, might as well forget about crime and only focus on heart disease. Wake up and smell the bomb-making baby formula!

Listen, anyone could be a potential threat. Heck, an American redneck killed hundreds of innocent people in Oklahoma City. However, the point is that airport screeners should be vigilant of everyone, but people of a certain profile should be given extra attention.

No, because race is not a valid identifier of potential terrorists. Don't forget that one of the most infamous ones in this counrty was Timothy McVeigh -- a white male. If you think he was the only one of his kind in this counrtry, you're wrong!

A trained observer, trained and experienced in behavioral analysis has a fair shot at identifying potential terror suspects. They observe the actions of people, not their race or other meaningless differentiators.

Look at the moron in CA that murdered a Sikh shortly after 9/11. Wrong race, wrong religion, but "looked like a terrorist" in that idiot's mind.

But, hey, let's put this whole thing in perspective, folks! We'd have to repeat 9/11 every 38 days to equal the carnage on the roads caused by drunk drivers! Since 9/11, exactly zero people have died at the hands of Islamist middle-eastern terrorists but nearly 200,000 people have died on our nations roads because of DRUNK DRIVERS!! There were 5 deaths from inhalation anthrax shortly after 9/11 but the source has never been found.

So, if we add in the anthrax deaths, 5 people have died from terrorist activity in the US since 9/11, but nearly 200,000 have died at the hands of drunk drivers. Where the hell is the outrage over this?? And you want to "protect" Americans against a 1 in 10 million chance of being a victim of terrorism with racial profiling? Are you F****** nuts??! Why don't you go out and turn in a drunk driver? You won't save a SINGLE LIFE by "trolling for terrorists" but you may save MANY if you call a cop when you see someone stumbling to their car outside the bar.

Statiscically speaking, nobody reading this post will ever be a terror victim. But 20 or so of you will DIE because of a drunk driver eventually.

Get your priorities straight, people!!

we could consistently do exactly what the Israelis do over there and practice the TSA brokers to be powerfuble and smart approximately PASSIVELY scrutinizing travellers--all travellers, no longer basically travellers of a undeniable ethnicity. What they do is they look ahead to minute tricks in physique language, speech, and movements of incredibly everybody interior the airport and seem out for indications of anxiousness or unusual habit. Then they pull those persons aside for extra thinking and inspection. which would be lots greater useful than groping grandmothers and taking bare pictures of folk.

Constitutional rights dont allow it. However, the UK doesnt have a Constitution. They are seriously considering having a separate security line for Arabs and other Muslims. No joke.

why not... if you know a certain type of person of a ethnic background meets the typical person to pose a treat... you would be nuts not too. Do you wait until after they have killed people to say... oh well we saw he fit a typical terrorist profile, but did not want to affend anyone. WAKE UP and be affended!!!!! Would you rather have them affend your child? or have your child dead? You chose to fly.. so you choose to be screened... what ever that means... it is not equal opportunity... it is safe for flight!
