Some people just act like the world revolves around their child or themselves.
I mean, I do care for myself and family, but i also care for others.
What is up with this?

Hide your concern for others outside your family! The more you show that to other people, the more they are going to circle and attack like sharks.
There are a lot of decent people in the world like you, and they remain decent by disguising their compassion. You need to join them by finding a good papier mache mask as fast as you can.
You're greatly outnumbered by the majority whose lives are locked on their sentiments for spouse and kinfolk to the exclusion of all else.
