so i've seen this come up in everyone's answers, that being gay "is a choice because you choose whether or not to act on the attraction." how many straight people choose whether or not to act on their attractions? and can they say no to an attraction for the rest of their lives? what if it's a god-given attraction? i was unlucky in love for many years and prayed to God for someone to be with. I'm a woman and the person who showed up in my life (just a day later) is also a woman. so, hey... i acted on it.

ABOUT MY AVATAR: so i picked a "male" avatar. but it's more like what i look like. i don't look like some teardrop head, pouty-faced, bambi eyed teenager. so this is me. and, sister to sister, i was honest, i told you i was a woman.

Good for you! I refuse to believe a God of love would deny anyone who loves.

Matthew 19:12 For there are some eunuchs, which were so born from their mother's womb: and there are some eunuchs, which were made eunuchs of men: and there be eunuchs, which have made themselves eunuchs for the kingdom of heaven's sake. He that is able to receive it, let him receive it.

I know of heterosexuals who are not Scripturally allowed to remarry; they are more interested in doing what is right than having a moment of pleasure. It can be done; it's just that most people don't bother to control themselves.

I really don't know if I would consider that a God given attraction. Our world is a sinful one and many things that are percieved to be of God really are not. I would say that you have a weakness to want to be with the same sex - just like anyone could have a weakness to do things they shouldn't do - like cheat on their spouse, lie, steal, hurt or kill someone. In God's eyes anything that is not pure is a sin. So I would say that this is a weakness in your life - if God wants you to change it he will let you know - and he will give you the strength to do it.

As a married woman, I am never to act on any attraction I have towards anyone else besides my spouse for the rest of my life.

Yes, being attracted to men is a healthy and normal thing, and yet out of respect for God and out of respect for my husband I will never act on this impulse, but instead I will learn to control it and to control myself to life a pure and blameless life.

Being a Christian is all about bringing every part of your life under the Lordship of Jesus Christ. That means you want to please him and obey him with everything that you are: your money, your time, your talents, your romantic partners, and even your own body.

When you are a Christian you realize that Jesus bought you with the price of his blood on the cross. That means that we do not belong to ourselves anymore, but we belong to Jesus. So we do what we think will please our master, not what will please our bodies.

Does that make sense?

Listen, sister to sister, if you're a woman, don't have a male avatar, OK? A big problem with the gay lifestyle is they don't know how to be honest. Just be honest. Thank you very much.

Well, I guess you have a problem to deal with and a cross to bear. May God bless you in sorting it out.

Sounds like you made the right choice. If you're attracted to a person, go for it.

Well, the priests of certain religions are supposed to abstain entirely, so it's possible to not act on heterosexuality

You don't need anyone to tell you what you ought to do, or not to do.
You already know right from wrong.
The question is, are you choosing to follow a religion in your life, or are you choosing to follow your own desires?
If you have chosen to follow your own desires, then do so...but, please, do so under your own banner.
If you wish to follow a religion, then you will need to work on your desire to please yourself rather than your God....
Really, it is up to you.
