These sandwiches are known by various names depending on where you live in this country. Some of those names include: Submarine, Heros, Hoagie, Grinder, Po' Boy, Rocket, Torpedo, Dagwood, Hero, Zepplin, and Italian Sandwich. These are king-sized sandwich on a loaf of bread approximately 12 inches long and 3 inches wide, filled with various cold cuts and many different trimmings.

Po' Boy (poo-boy) - Also know as Oyster Loaves. Po' Boy is the generic name for the standard New Orleans sandwich made with French bread. They are considered a New Orleans institution. Also called poor boy. Always made with French bread, Po' boys can be filled with fried oysters, shrimp, fish, soft-shelled crabs, crawfish, roast beef and gravy, roast pork, meatballs, smoked sausage and more. They are served either "dressed" with a full range of condiments (usually mayonnaise, lettuce, and tomatoes) or "undressed" (plain). This sandwich is purely American in its variety of sauces and condiments. It is uniquely New Orleans because the oysters are local, as is the crisp and airy bread. cook

Hope you enjoy! In NY they are called Hogies or subs, and are yummy!

A poor boy or po' boy is a New Orleans sandwich similar to a hoagie or a sub. If you order a poor boy in New Orleans they will ask you if you want it "dressed" (meaning lettuce, tomato, pickles and mayo) - if you just say dressed that's how you will get it - if you want fewer condiments or different condiments you have to say "dressed WITH cheese, mustard and tomatoes".

A traditional poor boy would be well done hot roast beef with gravy on french bread - a baguette cut in half then sliced lengthwise- dressed. (No rare roast beef po' boys! Another traditional poor boys is a "peacemaker" - 1/2 fried oysters and 1/2 fried shrimp But to me the ultimate po' boy sandwich is the french fry po'boy. French fries (steak fries are best) fried and placed on french bread and covered with gravy, dressed and with cheese. A heart attack in your hand! LOL!

Take 2 Slices Of Bread.
Put peanut butter on one, jelly on the other. Put slices together.

You might also want to try tuna. Add some optional mayo, and possibly so celery.

Three classics:

1- Cheese Sandwich! Just bread, mayo, and cheese.

2- Tomato Sandwich! Just bread, mayo, sliced tomato, and salt and pepper.

3- Potatoe Chip Sandwich! Just bread, mustard, pickles, and your favorite chips. Dorito's are my preference on this.

All three are great - I was once a college student :)
