According to ReligiousTolerance.org

Among the most common faith groups in the U.S., Protestants have the highest suicide rate; Roman Catholics are next; Jews have the lowest rate.

Interestingly, followers of religions that strongly prohibit suicide, like Christianity and Islam, have a higher suicide rate than those religions which have no strong prohibition (e.g. Buddhism and Hinduism.)

****

According to the BBC, the Countries with the Highest Sucide Rates in the World (per 100,000 inhabitants per year) are:

1 Lithuania 42.0
2 Russia 37.4
3 Belarus 35.0
4 Latvia 34.3
5 Estonia 33.2
6 Hungaryk 32.1
7 Slovenia 30.9
8 Ukraine 29.4
9 Kazakhstan 28.7
10 Finland 24.3

Most of these are predominantly Christian countries.

There are a lot of people here making inductions based on theoretical evidence, but this question is about statistics.

If you mean what religion has the highest suicide rate, as in percentage of followers to percentage of people who commit suicide... no clue. The assumption that athiests commit suicide the most makes some degree of sense, but I'd like to see some actual numbers to support that.

If you do research into this topic you would see that the Christians hol;d title to the religion with the most amount of Sucides. It is a shame to see uneducated people here putting that on Islam because of some "suicide bombers". But then again, this question is kind of funny in the way it asks the question.

there is a link you can go to and see information about religions
http://www.all-world-religions.com/religion_statistics.htm

PS
Athiests make up a majority of sucides but since they have no religion, we can not mention them

i think of there are some christian cults that propose suicide. I undergo in techniques some years in the past at a similar time as there became a comet drawing close Earth an entire cult committed suicide questioning they're going to journey with the comet or some thing like that. Bunch of psychological nutcases, stable riddance!

Oh my GOD. I was seriously just thinking about this JUST LAST NIGHT. Creepy... Anyway, I would guess Christianity the highest because of the gays who fear they will be disowned and the others who just flat out think they're going to hell. Wicca is probably the lowest. I shall go research it. *researches*

Information from Religious Tolerance:

"Homosexuals have one of the highest suicide rates of any group in society, and are often disinclined to attend church because of the degree of rejection and homophobia there."

What do you know? I was right.

Catholocism is the least because suicide is the only unforgivable sin and means instant damnation.

Athiestms is the most because they have nothing to live for. People who kill themselves have no hope and therefore no longer believe in anything.

Catholicism has the lowest.

Once a psychologist/councelor in the Chicago area said that if everyone were Catholic he would go out of business. As I recall only one or two people he had ever had as a client/patient were Catholic.
