Hello!
I am researching Mormonism, and I have 6 questions....Looking for members of the LDS church.
I am not trying to attack anyone, I am trying to be as objective as possible, and a book of Mormon is in the mail. However, I am a christian.
It won't let me post all the questions with the references here(too long)...So I posted them online at www.allaboutjoshua.com or http://joshuafkon.googlepages.com/questions
Thank you very much for your help,
God bless,
Josh
P.S. I'm posting this question again because no one answered my questions before.

Wow Jerry, it's interesting to hear that you think that God doesn't care about Mormons. And we do believe that Jesus is the way to salvation.
Justhanging, Joseph Smith was never convicted of any crime.
Josh, I will answer your first question. There have been some minor changes in the Book of Mormon. Joseph Smith translated the Book of Mormon by the gift and power of God. Joseph Smith made a perfect translation of this book. When the Book of Mormon translation was complete, the next step was to get it published. Joseph Smith took some precautions with the manuscript to avoid someone stealing or losing it. He had good reason to fear as his enemies had already stolen 116 pages that he had previously translated. To avoid theft of the manuscript he took the precaution of having Oliver Cowdery copy the entire manuscript. Because of this there are two manuscripts, the original and the printer’s copy, which is the one copied by Oliver Cowdery. Oliver Cowdery’s copy was used for printing, while the original was kept safely hidden. Oliver Cowdery’s copy was not perfect, as it was written by hand. As you can imagine, copying an entire book there are bound to be mistakes. The mistakes were minor, making no real difference to the meaning of the book. Later on, the church has corrected these mistakes by comparing the original manuscript to the published manuscript. Hope this helped.

Josh,
The problem you face is that you are looking for ways to prove the Mormons wrong or to disagree with them. If you're looking for that, then you're going to get it. Another example is that if you're looking for the bad qualities in a person, you are definitely going to find them. So rather than looking for contradictions and all, why don't you simply try looking for the truth. The truth from God. Not from me, not from any other person that has posted here. Not from scientists and theologians. Not from facts and evidence. Not from your teacher or priest or whatever. If you believe the Bible fully, then you will believe the Book of Mormon to be true. Take the test. James 1:5 and also Moroni 10:3-5. If you're heart is open and God knows that you'll accept the answer given to you, whether it's the answer you want or not, then He'll give it to you. However, if you already have your mind set on the way you believe it to be, then God can't force you to believe something else. Just try it. What have you got to lose? But it's all up to you and no one else. We can attempt to answer your questions, but with your mind deadset on disagreeing with us, then none of our answers are going to be satisfactory. I could answer all your questions, but you wouldn't be willing to accept it because that's not what you want. Hope that helps. Try looking at it differently if you want a different answer then what you're getting. "Change your attitude and your world changes with it."

As a christian evagalist there is one major problem with the latter day group. They do not believe in Jesus Christ. They have levels of completion. Jesusss said in John 14. 6 that he is the way and no other. You'll most likely never convert a ld. 3 John verse 10 says to stay away from this type religion. Don't waste your time, look for people looking for Christ. The days are getting very short for the rapture of the church. Gods not really concerned with them. Only when we go into the highways and hedges and comple them to come in. Sow some salvation seeds and look forward to the Rapture. Best in the Lord Jerry Kelly

Forgive me Emily, but yes, mormonism is a cult.
But don't be offended, all the major religions were cults at one time or another. You need a thousand more years to become "mainstreamed".
The book of mormon and the bible are works of fiction.
That is why religion is based of faith.
People maintain that these books should be taken literally, through "faith".
Other people understand that humans wrote both books. In the case of the bible, it is a great read, but written by many people over many hundreds and thousands of years.
In the case of the book of mormon, it was written by a fringe criminal (remember him getting busted for burying gems and then people paid him to "find" them?) Since he was tired of being a criminal, Smith decided to do it the legal way, and invent a religion. He is laughing in his grave right now...believe that.
EDIT:
Matt: I didn't say convicted, and I notice you emphasized that. So, you admit, he was arrested? Have you ever been arrested? No? Why not? Probably because you are a decent enough gentleman, as am I. Links below from a brief google search. I'm not interested in upending mormonism. I live in Utah, and have quite a few good mormon friends. I just happen to not believe in their religion. They don't bother me, and I don't bother them!

I don't think anyone can give you the answers you are looking for, except yourself and the Lord. Good luck and may He bless you in your efforts.
jerry k - you are very interesting...you are a so called Christian I am sure..would Jesus want you comdeming people to hell? That doesn't seem very nice, He loves us all and is concerned about every one of us, no matter the religion. How did you come to the conclusions about the "mormons" was it through prayerful study or teachings of hateful others?

You can find the Book of Mormon Online.. along with all of our other Scriptures at:
http://scriptures.lds.org/
Oh.. excuse me... you aren't looking for understanding... you are spreading misunderstanding on your webpage links... these items have been answered over and over by members of the Mormon Church but some people seem to think that it needs to be gone over again and again.
