I get spots and i get boils. Boils are deeper, almost like infections from the inside out. Spots are more like a bad case of blocked pores. Spots don't get too bad as long as i don't pick them. Boils inevitably end up severely inflammed and they need sulphur, herbs or cutting open in the worst case.

Boils can start out about the size of a huge zit and end up as big as a 50 cent piece. There under the skin and really hard. They can be painful too.

A spot isn't a boil. A boil has a dot/circle in the middle. A spot has pus.

About the size if a pea at least or bigger. I had a blind boil (no pus) on my chin once, the area around it felt numb. You shouldn't squeeze them, they can get infected. You should go to the doctor, they will advise you, I had to have antibiotics and cream for mine.

Hi
"boil -- a pus-filled abscess on skin: a painful pus-filled abscess on the skin caused by bacterial infection of a hair follicle."
I guess it doesn't have to be a certain size...
