there should be little button on top of the steering wheel.. Press that button, turn the key all the way to left (Off) and then pull it out.. Sometimes you also have to move the steering left/right to get it out..

Yanking on it won't work. There is a switch that is suppose to release so you can pull the key out. Obviously something has caused the release mechanism not to function. Some vehicles have a manual release. See if here is a small square cover somewhere near the ignition switch either above it or below it. If there is one take something and remover the cover like a small screwdriver. Then take a small enough object to insert into the hole under the cover and then try to pull out the key. If that's not an option, you could remove the ignition fuse to disable the vehicle for the night. Get your owners manual and open it to the index. Look for the fuses section. In that section it will tell you what different fuses do and where they are located on you vehicle. Just take out the fuse that says "Ignition" and remember where you took it out of. Then try to start the car. If it won't start at least no one can steal it . If you can't find the ignition fuse look for one that says "power" and try that one. Hope it helps. Good luck.

Sometimes the Japanese cars won't let you take the key out if it is not in park. So if you have a center shift, maybe there is something blocking it from being firmly in park, like a cup. I assume this is your car, but if it is not, some ignitions have you push in the key toward the steering column and then turn slightly farther to the off position. So you would need to push in and turn at the same time to get to the position where the key can be removed.
Good luck - would love to hear if either of these were the culprit.

I also have a Toyota Camry and sometimes the key gets a little stiff in the cyclinder. Just try giggling the steering wheel a little and the key should come out.
