Is it irresponsible for illegal/amnesty supporters to continue to claim that amnesty will happen, thereby creating a "goldrush" mentality which will lead to more deaths in the desert and on our nations highways?

ummm...Sarah, that is because it is a question, and it is the sonoran desert. A huge expanse of harsh "no mans land" in the southern third of arizona.

Wrong , Amnesty is a concept that would allow them to "stay" not enter. They get a thought that if they made it to America they would be able to "stay" therefore spurring a desire to attempt a potentially deadly journey.

And one more for S_G. That is my point, there is an incentive for people to cross the desert. if a family member is here they WOULD be able to bring their family, therefore MORE would attempt to cross. The more that attempt to cross the more that die in the desert. It is actually a pretty simple formula.

I will be brief, yes, that hope has caused many deaths. And it is spread to many of the people to hurry and go. Goldrush is a very good word.

Funny.......I don't think so. First off......... I have to clarify that most people who are here illegally DO NOT swim a river or crawl across a desolate desert. So your "gold rush" theory is BS.

Next........IF......and again I say IF....I was too listen to all the "good info" given here and elsewhere. Then I would be ASSURED that "amnesty" would allow them to come. Time and time again.....we are told that IF amnesty is granted......it will open a door to Mexico. SO........if THAT is the case, why would I risk my life. I will just wait for the door to be OPENED.

All of us who want amnesty with secure borders and strict guidelines know that this is a ruse used to incite people. It didn't work....nor does this question.

EDIT: Had to edit Mr. Joe..........how many times have I been shot down by anti-illegals concerning my views on amnesty......probably 250. Out of those 250......at least a third have claimed that amnesty will open a door and it will allow "FAMILY and FRIENDS" to enter at will......because they have FAMILY here now. I didn't say I agree with the CONCEPT......I just wanted to highlight the finer points of those who attack me.

There you go again with you dumb @$$ questions. Its not the desert that kills them its the american people with guns that shoots at them.

Amnesty is already here and it will stay here. You will be deported one day by an illegal alien with amnesty in this country sooner or later, youll see.

It DEFINITLEY contributes to deaths of illegals!!! That, and the "do gooders" who put water stations in the desert for them!!! This gives them a FALSE hope, that there are water stations all over the desert, when there are NOT!!!

People do have a dream, or you may call it a myth. If your life is such that you contemplate death on a daily basis, a glimmer of hope may just bring about the unexpectable. You have nothing to lose and life is full of surprises.

It is highly probably that amnesty will happen since its our economy that is driving immigration. The possiblity of amnesty is not driving people the movement of people. . .it's the matter of survival that is driving it.

I see what you are saying. Illegal immigration leaped up last year. Is giving false hopes the cause of these deaths? Well, I would say it is another magnet.
