Many things can cause fluid to build up in the lungs. Congestive Heart Failure (CHF) causes fluid to build up, with each beat of the heart a little bit of fluid is pushed back into the lungs. Pneumonia can cause fluid to build up in the lungs. As more fluid is building in the lungs, the less likely the person is able to cough it out, because the pressure of the full lung is to great for the person to deal with. We will put people on diuretics, such as lasix, which can be given orally or thru an IV. It can be potentially life threatening, if the fluid is not able to be "drawn off" the lungs, the fluid will fill the lungs and the person is said to " drown in their own fluids". Good Luck, I hope that this was helpful.

Bring the patient to the hospital as soon as possible so that he can be given proper medical attention. Lungs filled with water puts the patient in danger and must be treated immediately.

my grandma has had water filled in lungs before. She had to be rushed to the hospital for it more than 3 times but she survived. She lives on a strict diet now and has to go for a check up every week.

there are medication that will draw some of the fluid out, Lasix is one, Will lead promptly to Congestive Heart Failure, you can search this on engine.. Make sure this person sleeps upright and watch for swelling in the legs. Seek medical treatment. They can treat this easily in most. good luck

You mean their lungs are filling up with fluid?
They are slowly drowning. Sometimes they can get the fluid off, sometimes they can't....which leads to the inevitable.
I'm sorry.
