Maybe she has a grudge and just felt that it would be too hard to simply be your friend. If that is the case, you need to let it go and respct her wishes.
OR...she may just be immature and waiting for you to say something. I personally think that you need to approach her and honestly tell her what you just told us, about how life is too short and how u still want to be firends and forget the past. If you do this, then you will most likely find out why she ignores you. that way, you can deal with it better.
please remember though, some people who dated just do not work at being friends becuase they will always be reminded of the romantic relationship and all the problems they had in it. Good luck!

I agree you can sometimes have a good relationship with your ex, as you do with your other former girlfriends. However, unfortunately, sometimes you just have to accept that you can't. This seems very cruel considering all the things you have probably gone through together in the past and nice times.
Some people just find it easier to make a clean break in order to move on with their life but there may be other reasons why she isn't speaking to you:-
Your ex may get a lot of grief from her current boyfriend if he knows she could speak to you. So don't take it personally, she would probably act like this whoever her ex was.

The ultimate question is Why try to get her to talk to you? There's a reason she's your Ex. If she left you for someone else, then its apparent she doesn't love you, and likely didn't love you at the time you dated her. Personally, I wished my ex would just drop off the face of the planet and leave me alone, but oh know, she's gotta keep showing up just to be annoying....

you split up so why do you even care what she thinks or does? most people don't stay friends with ex's as it causes problems with future partners. ignore her and let her get on with her life..you sound a bit controlling actually if you think about it!

Its sounds like she is still feeling guilty by her actions in leaving you for someone else. I would say she isn't acknowledging you because she feels embarassed. Give it time, once she sees that you have no problems with her she may start to feel more comfortable around you.

Don't confront her. Just try and ignore her. It's going to be difficult but if she doesn't want a relationship you can't force it. Stay strong !

Confronting her won`t help, just smile and say hi if you want to and leave it at that, maybe she won`t acknowledge you because she feels bad about what she did to you? If she continues to ignore you then leave it and move on, it`s not worth worrying yourself about.

Stop caring about how she acts, she's not worth your time. Why pursue someone who clearly doesn't want any contact with you? She knows what she's doing. Ignore her.
