Like many people they are enraptured by the sound of their own voice or the sight of their own [usually grossly mis-spelled] words.

Someone "asked a question" saying they basically had a headache and what should they do. I answered that it was obvious that death was imminent and they should get the will in order. Geez did I hear about THAT. Hey, you have a headache, do you really NEED advice on what to do?

Maybe there needs to be a Yahoo Answers Lite, for people without much of anything to say but a lot of time to say it. You need to figure how to handle a headache: Answers Lite. You have a debilitating medical condition and would like the names of medical resources or to hear the experiences of others with the same disease: Answers Professional.

And questions about philosophy, theory and opinions are not valid? Those types of questions are meant to make a person look into themselves and pull out an answer that isn't dependent on a religious text. I actually prefer those questions because a lot of people put thought into those.

These people don't want to know the real answers, since the truth is scary and adverse to their brainwashing. So, in order to let out steam, they pose a question with disclaimers to keep out the believers and educated readers from setting the record straight.

The questions are usually asked and answered in the way that pleases them so as to "think" that they are right about SOMETHING!

It's understandable, I have teenagers who think that they know everything too. the best thing that I learned from them is not to engage in their one-sided arguments. WIN-WIN.

Some questions seem to have no answer, but we are trying to find an answer if we can. That, I think, is human nature: to make sense of things that don't seem to make sense.

On the other hand, you might get a prankster or two from time to time just trying to get under your skin. I guess it is up to you whether or not you choose to answer these questions.

They ask because, they may not know the answer. sometimes they may think they know, but they just need to hear it from somewhere else, to be sure.
