this is sleep paralysis
it is a condition many suffer from and what happens is that as we are about to go to sleep the body secretes chemicals to our body to stop us acting out our dreams ( which would be dangerous )
when it gets scary like this it means the chemical is being released too early or you are waking before it has worn off
the most common complaint is paralysis and heaviness on the body ( as if someone was sitting on you )
it is also commonly followed by something called hypnagogic state which is like hallucinations ( a waking dream )
many people report feeling or seeing a presence in the room
it is not dangerous but very scary but a doctor may be able to help if it gets too much for you
love to you xx

I think I would need to know you better. The most logical answer is that you are having a night terror. Your body will shut down your ability to move during these to keep you from hurting yourself. They are usually very vivid and it can seem like you are awake. Your concern about attempted possession is also valid. It could be something demonic attempting to attack you. Again, I would need to know about your habits: do you watch a lot of horror, do you do something differently in the days and weeks leading up to the event?
