My son is working on that right now.
I was told by a nurse that you should get them to hang onto a chair and then let them push it across tile. It'll slide fairly easily and it simulates walking.

Hold her hands when she's sitting on the ground (preferably carpet) and help her to her feet. Once she's up, just keep holding her hands gently until she finds her balance easily enough. This might take a while. Then back away from her slowly, until she starts to lean forward. If she's ready to walk, she'll try and catch her balance by moving her feet, which is exactly what walking is.
Remember to be always smiling, even if she falls. If you look too concerned that she hurt herself, she might just start crying out of fear and not because she really did hurt herself.
Don't pull her arms too hard, and be sure not to wrench her arms when she falls. Take this slowly. Don't rush it. She's learning something HUGE, so be patient and let her set the pace.

She probably doesn't need help "walking". What she likely needs is help building strength in her legs and practice balancing. That is where it all comes from. When they get the strength and balance coming together, they will usually venture into walking on their own!

i think the best thing to do is hold them by their arms as they try to walk. Walking comes at different ages for kids which they will eventually pick up on their own. However you can help them stregnthen their muscles by having them stand and hold on to things as they do.
