I think only time can help you. Stay away from dusty environments.

All of the above, umm, except the cake thing. Also, you might consider taking an antihistamine (Benadryl, Claritin, Chlortrimeton), which will ease the inflammation.
And might I suggest cleaning your room more often in the future??? ;o)
Used to happen to me all the time, as MY sister was ten years younger than me, with severe asthma, so guess who got to clean OUR room?
At 30 yrs old, I still have trouble whenever I vacuum and dust the house... I take Claritin before I even start to clean.

You could have Reactive Airway Disease. If you have an allergy to dust, and it sounds as if you might, you should avoid doing the dusting, or else do it very frequently to keep it from building up. If it becomes very difficult to breathe and not just coughing, you should get emergency medical attention. This will likely pass on its own. Keep coughing to help it clear.

Get into an air conditioned room quick. The room must be really cool. Also try blowing your nose several times. If you have any
allergy medicine try taking that. If breathing is really difficult..

If the problem persists, or gets worse you should consult a doctor. Enhaling dust could be more hazzardous than you may think. Small things like dust mites, and even fungus can flourish in dusty and uncleaned areas.

Fresh air and try to drink something. If the condition persists might be both of you are asmatic. That can be extremely serious. Try to figure out the source of the dust. It might be borax left up there for the roachs or something serious like that. If so call poison control imediately if you find something other than just plain dust.

I think you and your sister may have asthma. Check with your doctor for medication that can help you breathe better.
