I grew up Catholic but I haven't gone to church much since I left home. It still bothers me about what he said and I know it shouldn't. I try to do good but I've made alot of mistakes in my life. Is there really "ONE" to worship? Or should I just stick to my tradition?

The Catholic faith teaches that God is a Trinity: The Father, The Son, and the Holy Spirit. All Christian faiths believe much the same, although the Catholic Church seems to stress more the idea of a triune God.

Many people think they know about the Catholic Church, and in many cases they are totally misinformed. Sometimes they have been prejudiced against the Catholic Church, and they don't even know why, so they make up things like this.

Your tradition tells you that God and Jesus are a part of your faith. Be careful about letting other people tell you what they think you believe.

The guy was wrong. Pray for him

There is really one God to worship. Catholics call this God the Holy Trinity, the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.

Go back to a Catholic Church and give it a try. If it does not feel right try other Christian denominations.

With love and prayers in Christ.

Yes, many do call Catholicism a Cult even.... I don't agree with that and I don't believe in the rituals of the Faith either.... However I do know many Christians who are Catholic. Because they have a relationship with the Lord, they don't worship Idols, they realize the word of God is Truth. The Bible clearly tells us so many things that go against the Catholic religion. You can not work your way to Heaven. No one comes to the Father but through the Son. My Pastor once said during a sermon if you don't hear the word "Jesus" It's a red flag. We are all sinners, Jew's, Catholic, Non-Denominational....
Protestant isn't a religion rather a movement in the 16th Century to amend Catholic tradition.... Pretty interesting actually because up until early 90's I thought I was protestant lol I was raised Presbyterian which was part of the Protestant movement.
Prayer (according to the Bible) should always be "In Jesus Name" HTH :)

Like others have already said, your "friend" is mistaken. God is the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. In fact, worshipping just Jesus is erroneous because God is more than just Jesus. In fact, if we were to only worship Jesus, we are saying that God is not here on Earth among us because I'm sure he believes in the ascension of Jesus. He forgot that Jesus sent the Holy Spirit to guide us on earth.

The short answer is: yes, stick to your tradition but make sure you know why you do what you do. I think that one word ("why") is very important to all of us Catholics. We often do it, but never think about why we do it. I think once you find out why, not only will it strengthen your faith against attacks but also enriches your appreciation for the 2000 years of tradition that comes along with our faith.

Catholics believe in the Holy Trinity: One God in Three Persons (Father, Son, and Holy Spirit). The Trinity alone deserves worship and adoration (also called "latria"), which is distinguished from "dulia" (respect for the Saints) and "hyperdulia" (a special respect for Mary, the Mother of God).

Keep in mind that, for Catholics, "prayer" does not always equal "worship". To pray can be to ask, not necessarily to worship or praise.

Catholics are not heathens.God fearing good people. You may worship God or Jesus as you wish.Remember though that Jesus said(read carefully very important)
"NOBODY COMES TO THE FATHER BUT BY ME"
Not by Mary or this saint or pope or priest or man or woman or god or goddess"NOBODY COMES TO THE FATHER BUT BY ME"
Unfortunately the dear pope would like you to forget that word spoken by Jesus himself.Worship God through Jesus the Son of God and ask the Holy Spirit for guidance.Study the Bible with great concentration and an open mind

God the father, God the son, and the Holy Spirit......God is the trinity....three in one.
Some evangelicals believe that Catholics are not saved because the Catholic religion puts the mother, Mary, as perfect like Jesus and they pray for her intercession, I think.
All that matters is that one has asked Jesus to come and live in their hearts and to repent of their sins. I wouldn't worry about which denomination you attend....just go where you hear the truth of love.

I think you will find that the people who worship Jesus, and namecall others will get a huge surprise in heaven. Fundamentalists are, by dcefinition, stupid, ignorant, and misunderstanding of their own faith. Jesus did not want to be worshipped. keep on keeping on. God hasn't changed simply because some people said he has.

HAHAHAHA. That's just stupid. Of course Catholics worship or pray to Jesus. They have him hanging from the damn cross everywhere in churches and in their homes. I thought God told people to pray and worship only God (himself) anyway.

I've never understood the whole fixation with Jesus. Isn't God the one who rules everything? I know Jesus is actually just God, so why talk about Jesus?
