My bf and I have been dating for 6 years and he says he isn't ready to be married. He says he needs another 3-4 years before he will be ready to think about marriage. He says he knows he wants to marry me, but he isn't ready...not even ready to get engaged. Does this mean he doesn't love me enough to marry me or what?
He is in his late 20's and I am in my mid 20's...he has had a stable job for 3 years, and is financially stable from what his friends tell me...and I just graduated from college.

From the sound of things he is still wanting to keep his options open. I would seriously talk to him. He may have a reason no one knows about for wanting to wait, but to me it sounds like he is getting all he wants from the relationship so why should he commit? Right now if he finds something "better" there are no consequences to breaking it off...

If you all have been dating for six years and her needs another 3--4 years to think about marriage its even he waiting on someone else. Or he doesn't love you and if he has to take three years to think about whether or not he wants to spend the rest of his life with you. Something is wrong.

I think if you's are still together after all this time he does love you. But maybe its just the whole moral of "MARRIAGE" like hes not ready for that label. But if i were you he would have to give me a engagement otherwise bye, bye. So maybe if he loves you he'll take an ultimatium.

I would not think he doesn't love you, he's just not ready, for reasons of his own. If you keep pushing the issue, he will never be ready.

Spend an evening watching Failure to Launch and see if you are dating a Peter Pan...a man who doesn't want to take on adult levels of responsibility, especially relationally. It seems to me that his failure to commit is indicative of somebody waiting for "something better" to come along. I would strongly consider moving on.

ask him if there is marriage in the future with him. let him know that you dont want to waste yr time on someone that is never going to settle with you. more tips on relationships on this site
