I mean... I asked a question to test this theory just a few minutes ago. I was not too surprised at the resonses. Do you feel so glorified in your faith that it makes it OK to call someone names? For the record, I'm a decent person. I just like to get a rise out of people sometimes.

Let me elaborate. I've done volunteer work since I was old enough to do so. I gain satisfaction knowing that these people know I'm helping them for free. They know my heart is in it. Where are your hearts?

The key word here is claim...a christian does not verbally abuse.

1) We're all kind of rotten on the inside, Christian or not. That's the point.

2) Not eveyone who posts here claiming to be a Christian actually is one

3) Why do you say that you are a "decent person" and yet "just like to get a rise out of people sometimes?" To me, that's not being very decent...

4) Asking "Do you think Noah had sexual relations with any of the animals on his arc?" (which was your last question) is a pretty rotten question to ask.

I answered you and as I read my response it was more annoyance. Not necessarily towards you but there have been some silly questions asked. In some cases when someone feels passionate about something they become defensive. Has there ever been something you feel strongly about (a boyfriend, friend, hairstyle, outfit...) yet there are more people who are against you than with you What do you do?.... Not that I am answering for everyone or saying that it is okay but this can also be a reason behind some of the "mean" responses you receive.

I think you did right by categorizing your last question in the religion and spirituality section. Also i dint think your wrong for wanting to get a rise out of people sometimes. The responses you received shows only how people can take them selves too seriously. Keep the questions coming and don't let the Hitlers on the web stop you from asking whatever you want, or how ever you want.

dhalia_1977,
Your expectations of how a Chirstian should act is an attempt to put us in a box. I resent that. I can cuss with the best of them.

I think what you need to understand is that we are like you. There are polite Christians and impolite Chritians. When you ask a question that presupposes that all Chirstians are ____, you boxed us. I take offense and usually meet force with force. I throw it back in your face.

That's why I'm answering you in a more respectful manner. Your question shows a genuine curiosity and doesn't presume a robot-like disposition.

"Do you feel so glorified in your faith that it makes it OK to call someone names?"
That question is borderline. I don't glory in myself. So I could tell you to ______ off.

"I just like to get a rise out of people sometimes."
So now you are admitting to being hypocritical.

honey,,, it is a christians duty to hate sin,, not the sinners,, we love every one, but a child of God must hate sin, and make it known to people that dont know Jesus there is a better way through him,, sin is the enemy not the people,, for if a person has Christ than the sin is removed,,, but,,,,,,for example if a person is commiting adultry ,, and i say sure ,go ahead,,its ok,, than i have commited the same sin, as a par taker , and condoneing what you would be doing,, so dont be mad, just realize we Christians did not make the rules to go by,,, God set them down way before we ever came around,, He just told us ,, to tell his truth, and lead as many as we can to him,,, none of us can take sin awy from anyone, and none of us is any better than you, i was a sinner when Jesus saved my soul, i find my self haveing to repent quiet often,,, and some people have the wrong idea of what repent means,,, it simply means to turn away from,,, not as some think to just say im sorry,,,,, good luck,, friend in christ

I agree. It upsets me to see people throw attitude around and purposely instigate arguments against those who do not believe what they believe.

On the other hand, if you came up to me personally, got in my face and started putting me down for being a Christian, I would not hesitate to defend myself. We don't have to go out looking for a fight, but we have a right to defend our position, certainly.

Would you like to see all Christians just let you always have the last word? Never utter a defense of what they believe? You are asking too much in that case.

Jesus himself entered the temple, and upon finding people using that sacred place to make themselves wealthy, personally threw them out.

There is a time to be complacent, and a time to stand up for what is right.

verbal abuse is the work of the DEVIL! hahahhaha just kidding... i guess they do it because they think its helping their cause by cutting us down... in fact, it never works.... I'm Wiccan and I had a very Baptist roommate for a while... I ended up moving out because it just annoyed me when she called me a sinner. I'm only a sinner in her religion. Just because I worship multiple gods and goddesses instead of Christ, just because my church is inside me and not a building down the block, just because I am my own priestess. I'm sure she wouldn't have liked it if I told her she was being close-minded and ignorant of other religions. But hey, sometimes some of them abuse us and expect us to take it... Most of the time, I just smile and nod and keep on moving... other times I'm feeling rather snippy and will respond...

It's human nature to be jerks sometimes I guess.

I'm sorry if you felt abused. I think every person deserves respect, and as a Christian I may respond passionately about the faith that I love but I'd never intend to abuse you over it.

It's definitely the norm in America. For example, doesn't the Bible talk about helping the needy? Why do Christian Conservatives want to cut out welfare programs - not just subsidies, but even health insurance - for the needy?

They don't know the difference between persuasion and verbal abuse. That's why we need training in witnessing.

We don't know how to differentiate, in what we say, between the person and the belief. And then we play into the devil's hands.

Remember, James said that the tongue is a fire. And so is the keyboard.
