I have an 8 yr old Italian Greyhound. She's pretty much been sleeping with me on the bed ever since I got her. When I wake up in the morning, there is $hit on my bed from my dog!! I know my dog though, she NEVER has accidents in the middle of the night. Is it just coming out? because I'm sure she's not getting up in the middle of the night to take a crapping on the bed.
Every morning at 6-7 am, she wakes up and starts whimpering, which then wakes me up and i take her out so she can take care of her business. I don't understand how she's having an accident on the bed in the middle of the night. This has happened only 3 times in the entire 8 years. The other odd thing is, it's only a tiny bit that she lets out.
Has that happened to anyone else or is there an explanation as to what is going on? I know it's kind of disgusting but oh well.

she most likely emmits a 'fart' in her sleep..many people do this..and sometimes they are a bit solid..In people, they call it skid-marks.
Could it be related to giving her doggy treats? Most of them have corn syrup, which is a laxative..ot the soft dog kibbles, they are laxative, as well.

It really does sound like she is having difficulty with her anal gland. For some reason it is not functioning properly and that causes leakage. It's usually a foul odor. It leaks because it is not becoming totally empty when she has a bowel movement.
It is not always serious. The Vet expresses it and drains out whatever is left. One of our dogs had the problem. It seems to get better when he gets more exercise. The daily walk keeps him on schedule with bowel movements and the gland isn't as bad.
Do you ever see her drag her bottom on the floor like some dogs do when they have worms? That is a sure sign it is the anal gland.

Well, you know everybody is going to be like, "Don't be stupid, take her to the vet".
Anyway ... Perhaps she is having problems with her anus not being able to hold it? Maybe she is so deep and sleep and has a dream and accidentally gets to excited in her dream and relaxes for a bit. I'm sure you take her out right before bed. Maybe try feeding her quite a few hours before bedtime. Anyway, thats my idea. Dogs can have weird problems sometimes, hu?

It sounds like she may have some issues with holding it during the night. Maybe you could offer her a spot with those puppy trainer pads, or newspaper, in a cat litter box (you can get them for small dogs).
Also, be sure to take her to the vet to get checked out. There could be an underlying health issue, and getting everything ruled out will certainly help you to unearth what the main issue is.
Good luck!

I think it is YOU who is having the "accidents" and you are blaming it on that poor dog... shame on you for that...
Now for your problem, try Depends and rubber sheets...
Your dog is quite the champion to keep sleeping in the bed you soil every night...

As dogs age, they can become incontinent, just like humans. 8 seems a little young for this, but possible. I'd take her to a vet because there are other, medical reasons she may be becoming incontinent.

If you have changed it"s diet could be the answer you may need to take it to the vet or it could be getting into something outside that is causing it
