I would suggest meditation for a multitude of reasons.
1) Each person can meditate on their own faith as a concentration point. Meditation brings about a serene sense of spiritual unity, a feeling of wholeness.
2) It is extemely benificial in keeping cognative abilities in their prime. It thickens the neocortex and increases neural plasticity (which is important in the geriactric neurvous system as the myelin sheaths get thinner, reducing the effectiveness of neural processes). This helps with memory too! It's much better then something like crosswords or sudoku in keeping an older person sharp.
3) It helps releave depression, which as I'm sure you know is a big problem at old folks homes. Hope this helps!

i think anything that makes their short time on this earth as comfortable as possible
i have considered going into this work to speak to the elderly about the after life
eradicating fears of perhaps a strict religious upbringing has caused them
stripping away religious doctrine and creating a spiritual feel among the residents that all can take comfort from
its a very difficult one this as you do not wish to offend their beliefs so not imposing religion on them but finding away to keep it spiritual

It's like anyone else. It's best just to offer something non-denominational.
