No mormon wears a uniform of any sort. The clergy doens't even wear any uniform. When we go to church we wear dresses/sutis, and we wear regular clothes throughout the week. We are encouraged to dress modestly, but that's about it. As far as the Book of Mormon goes, it doesn't add anything to the Bible. It just gives accounts of what was going on in the Americas, and says that jesus vistied here during the 3 days after he was resurrected. He told Mary that he had other work to do in other lands and was gone for 3 days, and Mormons believe that the lands he talked about were the Americas.

The "dress code" you're probably referring to is our standards. We believe that our bodies are (as the Bible and Book of Mormon state) "temples of God". Thus, we should keep them sacred and not flaunt them to the world. Where's the respect in doing so? But that's beside the point. The point is that we try to be modest in all the we do and wear, etc. You should see the difference in LDS teenagers who live their religion as opposed to those who aren't LDS or who are, but don't live it. That's not to say that non-LDS teenagers are terrible. I know that there are many good and great people not LDS. But studies done have shown that there is a difference. Makes sense to me because of the higher standards that they are expected to live by. And thus are happier by so doing. Sound like a paradox? Test John 7:17 and see if it works.
As for the temple garments, they are sacred symbols that remind them of the covenants they make with God as they enter into His holy temples. Why does everyone make a big deal about their underwear? If you saw it, which it's not like a big secret or anything, you wouldn't think it too different from any other type of underclothing. Jews have similar garments they believe are sacred and wear underneath their clothes. Perhaps the two witnesses of this fact means something.
Just as the Book of Mormon is another testament of Jesus Christ. It is a second witness to the Bible that He is the Son of God and that He lives. One who truly understands the Bible can't honestly say that the Bible condemns the Book of Mormon seeing as the scripture referred to was written before several other of the books contained in the Bible (DO YOUR HISTORY!) and the Bible wasn't even compiled to about 300 A.D. or somewhere around that. Not to mention the scripture at the end of the book of John that says not even all the books in the world could contain all the things Jesus did. So why are you complaining people that we have more of the word of God? Shouldn't you be happy that He's willing to give us more? I bet He'd give us even more if y'all weren't so unwilling to accept what He's given you already.

They do show great Modesty in an immodest world. I haven't read anything in the Bible telling me to wear special blessed underwear. All the aspects of the Mosaic law were done away with since like you said the Old testament is likened to a tutor to the Christ (Galations 3:24) As far as their added books I remember having this discussion many times they can not explain this scripture:
Galatians 1:8 (KJ): “Though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed.”
But they believe that the Bible has degraded since its writing and was inaccurate so God sent an angel to Joseph Smith to make a new new testament. However the facts show that the thousands of fragments found of ancient manuscripts of the bible show its accuracy but the book of Mormon has been revised several times since its initial publishing date.
The end

We are encouraged to be modest from the time we are born, I would say in preparation for going to the temple and wearing garments. We try to dress modestly, all though of course no one is perfect so try not to judge the whole religion on the people just trying to live it...
The point of the Book of Mormon, in my opinion, is basically to give us the history of righteous (and wicked) people living in the america's. It is ANOTHER testament of Jesus Christ, the same as the bible is. The Bible and Book of Mormon are about the same time periods, just different continents. There is not any doctrine that is not found in the bible that is in the Book of Mormon. There are revelations the prophet Joseph Smith received, which are basically further knowlege of doctrine, not new, which are in the Doctrine & Covenants.
Any more questions, you can email me...

We don't have a dress code, except that we are modest in the way we dress. We don't flash everything. I don't know where that came from. I'm looking into it as well as other things people say to include in the book I'm writing. I'm hoping it will ease people's minds and help everyone realize that we're not a cult or horned devils or anything like that. We're just people, like everyone else. We just have different beliefs.
As for our books (The Book of Mormon, Pearl of Great Price, Doctrine and Covenants, etc.), they tell the story of Joseph Smith who was a prophet in the 1800s...as well as other things which were revealed to him and others by God and the angels Mormon and Moroni and several others. Joseph Smith was led to find golden plates which he translated so as to correctly translated various verses of the Bible which were greatly mistranslated. It was God's calling to him. He was to translate them, start the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, reveal the truths God told him to reveal, and several other things.
Two great sites to check out if you want to learn more and get the truth are:
www.mormon.org
and
www.lds.org
mormon.org is run by a mormon, but it is not a church-run site. It is very helpful, though.
lds.org is church-run and definitely very helpful.
You can pretty much tell what is or is not run by the church because we don't refer to ourselves as mormons because we don't worship the angel Mormon. We just have his book. We refer to ourselves as LDS. As for our actual Bible, we use the King James Version.
In short, the central point of our additional books is to relay the information that God bestowed upon Joseph Smith. He was a prophet just like Moses and Elijah and the various other prophets of the Bible.
I hope this helped.
God bless!

Way to completely dismiss the Jewish holy books. No, announcing the coming of Christ is not the whole point of the Old Testament. Read it again. It refers to a messiah or prince of peace in several places, that could just as easily refer to a military/political leader (and probably did, in the context).

Their new books claim that Native Americans used to be white people from Jerusalem, and that you have to wear fancy underwear to be pure, and that the first man and woman lived in Jackson Country, Missouri.
They also believe that a holy book came about when a guy dug up some plates and read them out of a hat using a couple of rocks, and when the translations were lost he couldn't duplicate them.
They also believe some weird stuff about becoming gods and owning planets and whatnot. It's a really bizarre religion.

Read the "God Makers" it answers alot of questions about Mormons that most Mormons themselves didn't know the answers to. Like, did you know Mormons have to be tested by a Temple preparation official before they go into their own temples and the majority of Mormons will never make it inside the temple, after being told their salvation lies in the inner temple rituals. This leaves them with a very low saved v.s. burned rate. Not a very successful religion if you ask me.

All I know about the Mormons church is that it is the fastest growing religion in the world according to an article I read in "Forbes Magazine", and they have one hell of a Tabernacle Choir...Truly the best in Mixed Choral music.
