Yes ofcourse its normal, when I had braces several years ago I couldnt even place my teeth on one another it hurt so bad and it was like this for about a week and a half. For the eating part you have to take it easy for the first two weeks eat soft stuff like mashed potatos or rice stuff like that. Dont worry you wont be in pain forever youll be just fine in a couple of weeks. Oh and when you go for your monthly check up, once they re-tighten everything up again it might hurt for another 5 days yeah it sucks but ive seen more hell than you have. Trust me you'll love it at the end. Take Care.

Like what everyone else said, it is going to be sore for a while. You will have problem eating, so eat soft food. However, if this continues for one more week, then ask your dentist to check the bands (the metal thing around your molars). One or more of them may be too small. This happened to me before, the bands were too small and I kept biting on the rim. My dentist had to take them out and put bigger ones on. Hope this doesn't happen to you. Best of luck.

Just give yourself some time to get adjusted to your new situation. Eat soft foods for now. Be really careful in choices of foods, do exactly what your orthodontists suggests. Be careful in biting things, stay away from taffy type candies, cut your pizza and sandwiches etc into bites. You will get used to them, and your mouth will start to feel normal again. Good luck to you.

Very normal. I had braces years ago...those metal ones, ugh. It sucked but eventually you'll get used to it. Then when they come off you'll keep licking your teeth! haha
One piece of advice...be careful eating candy like Laffy Taffy or Now & Laters....anything of that consistency. They'll rip those braces right off! Best wishes....and just remember when this is all over, You are gonna have a gorgeous smile and it'll all be worth it!

Yes it's normal. Your teeth are going to touch in place they have never touched before and some may not touch anything at all. Just be patient and let the dentist do his/her magic.

it'll take a week or two before you can eat normally...sorry. just eat soft things like mashed potatos, pudding, milk shakes, etc. after you aren't sore so much it will get much better i promise....hang in there, it will be worth it.

i have braces and all that's normal when you first get them. it'll dull down a bit over the next few days and then go away. and in a month (or so) when your orthodontist changes them in your next appointment you'll have to go through it again... sorry
