if you dont feel comfortable reading something then teachers cant force you to. ask your teacher nicley if you could read something else instead. and if you have work to do on the holocost book you'll just do it on the the other book instead. if shes really that mean and wont let you read something else then tell your mum or dad and get them to have a word with this teacher or just go straight to the head of your school and tell him/her personaly about your situation. they should try and sort something out. and your not over reacting if you dont like that sort of thing then you dont like it. theres nothing any one can do about it , lots of people dont like reading that sort of thing and wouldnt read it if they were told to, so why should you.

Yeah, thats kind of hard. When i was a junior we read a book called night, also about the holocaust. It was awful. It is just one of those things in life that you are going to have to get over. There will be many more things that you find objectionable in your life but you have to tough it out. Actually though since you are a minor, your teacher can't force you to read the book if it is against your morals or if it makes you uncomfortable. But she could give you really hard assignments to make up for it. even worst she will probably never like you after that so she will be on your back all year. I just say get over it. Wait unti you have to read "A Child Called It", or something. You will be fine. You need to be aware anyway.

things in this world are not all Peaches 'n Cream. You have to deal with reality. these are things that DID happen in World's History...you need to get over it and understand that life is NOT a bowl of cherries and even TODAY, children and the innocent are being killed by armed forces all over the world.
read the book, it will be good for you. and you could probably become something of a humanitarian, be a better influence in this world than most who just SAY they are...

The book is part of the reality of life. No one can protect you or your sister from all such realities. Read the book. Take a few deep breaths and think about the fact that you only have to read about it - some people had to live it.

i think you should just face this, because you still have three more years of school and your going to have to face it, theres no point running away from your problems, if it really is a problem for you then you should talk to your teacher, or your parents to talk to your teacher. im going into 10th grade too next year but we have done the holocaust last year, it was difficult to watch and stuff but you have to understand that it actually happened to those people so whats worst? watching that or being in it?

Grit your teeth and read it. The world is a hard and cold place for most of the humans on this planet and it's important that we all learn to look through the eyes of others. It will be hard but you will have to do it.
If you can sit through it, I recommend the movie "Schindler's List." Another excellent movie about the Holocaust is "Sophie's Choice." It'll make you cry, though.

i'm sorry. my grandmother and grandfathner went through that and it was cruel and disgusting what the nazis did to the jews. i think it's really important that you read that book though because that is one way to respect the lives of those that were lost. Also i know this quote that i truly believe: if we do not learn history we are bound to repeat it. and i would NOT want that to happen again.
