something has happened over the past 3 decades; something that has made women incredibly confident while making men act like blushing schoolgirls.

Any ideas?

So, with that in mind, why is it that we still have these issues with the whole "I want a bad boy, nice guys finish last" crap?
These men have to go to a school to learn how to charm women because they fail when they are being themselves. Yet, some women scream "Be yourself," although that doesn't work. There are too many strings, pulling men in so many directions it's ridiculous. And it's funny, because when men go one direction they seem to fall into the situation in which they are always rejected. If they choose the other direction, the same thing happens. The question, "What do women want?" is the eternal, historical, most intriguing question ever created.

Yeah, women's lib killed men's egos. I know women were held back for a long time, so they fought back (that's fine), but they went way overboard, and what you are describing is the result of it.
