How come no one brings up NAFTA on the immgration issue... if it worked MExicans would be staying home. Basically we send our jobs there, & then they still come here to work because the work conditions are terrible

I don't believe that if there were good jobs in MExico that they would still be coming up here. Any of them I have worked with love their home, and plan on moving back home when they retire

It helped them in giving them manufacturing and retail jobs in American factories and stores built there.
However, the agriculture field is one where we came out ahead and a lot of Mexican small farmers and farmers' helpers couldn't compete. When rice and beans come in under NAFTA, it will get worse since those are the staples of Mexico and are produced in southern, impoverished areas as I understand it.

Correction:
There Are 3 Million + ILLEGAL Mexicans
Coming To The US Anually
One Of The NAFTA Trade Agreements Was
MEXICO Agreeing To EXPORT Her Poverty
To The USA
If You Look At It In That Framework
NAFTA Is Working As They Planned It To
Which Would Explain Why
The Administration Refuses To Make A Distinction
Between Immigrants And ILLEGAL ALIENS

I'm really not sure. I know that Mexicans, and other immigrants come to the United States because they believe it will provide them with an opportunity for a better life. I know that the majority of citizens don't like people coming into the country, but I know that it's probably hard to control a border. I personally am not worried about illegal immigrants, because I live in a midwest state. The only thing that I will do is take spanish. I just wish people wouldn't say things like "oh put them on a truck and send them back", because the next thing everyone will be suggesting is that we put them in camps. (And you know how well that works)

NAFTA was never intended to keep Mexicans out. It was intended to make it easier for American companies to move to places where they could operate cheaper.

Good point. The problem though isn't NAFTA, it is our woeful border security, lax immigration laws, greedy employers who will hire illegals, and generally gutless politicians. As for the illegals, ROUND THEM UP AND SEND THEM HOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

NAFTA did not work - have you seen how low grain prices are? (And no, farmers don't use illegals to pick grain, they use combines so don't start your crap here.) NAFTA needs to go. The illegals need to go.
