I was at restaurant and gave my credit/debit card to the waitress to pay for the meal. She returned saying that it wasn't processing. I asked for an ATM inthe area, but my card was still not processing. I returned to the restaurant and offered the only cash I had in my pocket ($20) but they said they didn't take partial payments! So a few days later, I come to find that my bank had put my account on hold because of suspecious activity. Well, all has been resolved. So I called the restaurant and offered my credit card to pay the bill ($25 with tip), they were going to let the manager know of my call. But no one has returned my phone call. Should I pursue this? I liked the restaurant, it was very good, but I don't want to go before I pay the bill.

if you go there again, make sure you have enough cash to cover how much you already owe them, plus enough to pay for your new dinner. explain the situation to the manager, dont speak to anyone else but the manager, and offer to give them cash or credit. if they dont want it, dont worry about it again, they may just tell you not to pay for the orignial, and if that is the case, you made a good faith effort, and dont give it anouther thought. you are worrying way too much abuot a little thing.

Of course you should pay the bill!!! You ate the food didn't you?! You're lucky they let you out of there, some places would have called the cops for theft of services. If no one calls you, send a check in the mail with an explanatory note. Always do the right thing, you'll feel better about yourself.

Of course you should pay, many restaurants now will take a debit card over the phone. I would try to call them again, it will make you feel so much better!

Screw it. You TRIED to call right? The stupid manager should have called you back. I say dinner was on them. Since it's 55 miles away, I'm sure you won't be a regular there anyway. They won't even remember you.

What place is this? Ifeel like I may have a little trouble with my ATM there too!!!

Pay the bill and send a letter explaining that the bank put your account on hold.

Next time you go there - explain the situation & offer to pay , as someone there will remember you and servers might not want you to come back or won't serve you well - in anticipation of no payment.

They may let you pay over the phone. just explain that you live 55 miles away. If they want your money they'll take it.
